He's not very good. And is going to be expensive. I wouldn't worry about it.

Even though I'll always be bitter about Holland drafting Zadina over Quinn Hughes (the guy I wanted the Wings to take months before the draft) I'm still hopeful Zadina can be a 30 goal scorer. I believe he has the right attitude and is ready to take another step forward next season. I just hope he can stay healthy.

I was (blindly) all in on Evan Bouchard. Hughes seems to have seamlessly crossed over, and to me he is the most gifted of the Hughes brothers. I remember feeling conflicted about Zadina. After seeing his shot start to translate to the NHL, it’s exciting for sure. It won’t wash away the needs that weren’t addressed on the blue line, but I’m hopeful that Yzerman can find those pieces as well. Nice write up on that G

CAR seemed to have some really nice pieces on the back end. It’s really impressive, and I have to assume that Edmundson’s ask was outside of where they wanted to be. Thanks for giving the local perspective!

This is rediculas. Whoever buys his rights only owns the right to make an offer for the next 3 weeks. He can simply say no, and go elsewhere. If you ask me, Mtl has made 2 idiotic trades the past week or 2

It’s definitely a gamble. You may, in the end, be dead on on how this thing shakes out. I would like someone like him to tighten up the left side, but I’m sure there will be other options available. Speaking of MTL, do you think Max Domi will move on?

If Montreal can get Edmundson to sign in the next month, a 5th will be well worth it!

I tend to agree, but I’m hearing a lot of people not being sold on the player. The market is still not “set” on the new reality of internal spending. I don’t envy player agents having to tell their clients, “remember that deal you didn’t take 6 months ago? Yeah, turns out that was a mistake. My bad”.

I too, had wanted Holland to draft Quinn Hughs. But at the time I ended up being convinced by many that DRW was very fortunate to have Zadina fall to them. Now I am not so sure. Don't get me wrong, I am not down on Zadina, but.....Quinn Hughs is someone that is awesomely spectacular!

Agreed. I was blinded a bit by Bouchard’s size/strength. Hughes brings a lot to the table, and his game has transitioned more quickly. I wasn’t on the right side of history with my pick. Zadina is very exciting, and seems to be gaining steam. Let’s hope it all works out!

Ah yes, I mistakenly said Hughes was my choice, but I too was smitten early by Bouchard! But by the time the draft happened I was equally for either drafting EB or QH. Then Zadina fell into Holland's lap. I, like many felt the need to draft mobile defense this time around, but was swayed, like Holland and Drapper, that Zadina was too much to pass up. (sigh) It sure was a pleasure to watch Hughes in the play-offs though!

They have like 5 better LD options. Edmundson is a fringe NHLer.

They didn't even bother negotiating with him.

He was the worst defender on the team. They weren't going to keep him even at league minimum.

Idk why people insist he’s useful in any way.

He's big and he has a cup!

I mean the Blues played him less than 10 minutes per game against the Bruins in the cup finals because they were eating him alive out there, but still...

Much grit. Cup experience. Must be a good locker room leader guy. Woohoo plan the parade.

Actually, that’s a fair criticism. His size and experience do make certain “biases”. I have to own that one. You and Stammers (and UDog) are right to be skeptical. To my detriment, you’re making fair points.

All players have a cup now...bet this guy wished he had one when this happened.
