You sure Risto isn't that bad? His 5v5 stats look like a literal horror movie. https://sabresfanatics.fi...nshot-144.png?w=510&h=419

Benny is overrated if you think of him any higher than a bottom-6 energy player which I don't think most flames fans see anything more than that.

And Calgary needs to get better now - futures for Monny won't cut it unless it's too good of a deal.

I know Risto's numbers, and they look bad, but the Sabres have been a joke most of his time here, and they put a lot on his shoulders and until last year most of the D was a joke and the systems were bad.

Go back 30 years, they've made 5.5 solid first round picks including Bennett, not including Pelletier or Valimaki. Name a team that's missed more.

You’re holding this management responsible for the last 30 years?

Sooooooo........ you are saying bacause the Flames previous Management dating back to 30 years has missed on 1st rounders we should just trade our 2020 1st rounder because of that, despite the success we have had the number of years. Give your head a shake, that doesnt even make sense, especially in a cap league. If there wasnt a Cap & we had ownership that would spend $100 mill on salaries to try & win then fine.
Need to get in modern times Hunk!

Sure, but the history of the draft before Treliving literally means nothing when there's a regime change. Look at his history in the draft:

2014 - Bennett - based on those drafted after him, Tre could have done better here. Based on projections from scouts that had him as the top overall talent in that draft... think all the scouts were also wrong

2015 - No firsts. But Ras fell out of the 1st round, as did Kylington

2016 - Tkachuk

2017 - Valimaki - by all accounts, should be a top 4 dman at the very worst. As a #17 pick, that's just fine

2018 - No firsts

2019 - Pelletier. Didn't love the pick myself, but sounds like he's rounding out his game in the Q, and has some scoring chops to boot. Think this will turn out fine. Not like anyone who came after him in the 1st is... well... doing anything. He'll play

The 19th overall pick has some decent names this year, I wouldn't be trading down or out of that pick unless there's someone that falls in a big way or you're landing a top 4 dman or top 6 centre.

I'm not saying just give away the pick, but first round picks, especially in the bottom half, are vastly overrated.

There are a bunch of RFAs out there can could help the Flames long term that would be worth giving up that pick. Either of the Lighting RFAs would be a major upgrade for the team for a long time.

Murray is better than anything the Flames would get at 19 and so is Domi.

Name 3.
Who did you want to see?
List his strengths.

- K-man25

Name 3 ways? Where do I start! I'll name more.

1 - With the Flames down late in a regular season game during that 6-game slide, he sat 13, 23, 19, 28 in favour of 17, 93, 29, and 11 on a 6on4 with under a minute left. This was before they caught fire and were just playing like bottom-6 players.

2 - He pulled Talbot in a do or die to put in a stone cold Rittich who had exactly 0 minutes of playoff action

3 - Speaking of Rittich... He played Talbot on an extreme back-to-back in the playoffs when Talbot looked fatigued instead of giving him action.

4- he plays a dump + chase system which led to ~48% possession stats (bad) which did not match anyone's strengths except a rough and tumble Lucic

5 - he never once switched up 13/23/28 even when they were getting caved at evenstrength

6 - and why were they caved? oh that's right... Ward used them as a DZ-start line instead of the Backlund line who excelled in that regard!!!

Want me to keep going

I don't want a player you need to make excuses for. I want a player that other teams topple over each other.

That's cool, already said that I never thought you guys would take him. Good luck finding 1 of those players, not easy to come by.

Actually this current managment is probably one of the better ones in the NHL at finding talent in the draft.

Since Treliving and his staff have been here (not counting the 2014 draft since it was already canned), we've got :

2015 : Ras, Breadman, Kylington, even without a 1rst round pick!
2016 : Tkachuk, Dube, Fox
2017 : Valimaki, no picks in 2nd and 3rd round. Ruzicka could turn into a servicable depth player.
2018 : no picks before 4th round, but Pospisil and Pettersen could turn into solid depth players.
2019 : Pelletier, Wolf, no 2nd round pick

That's a very solid group of prospects/players, especially considering many picks (2 1rsts, 3 2nds) were traded away.

Every possible clue screams "keep the pick", not "trade it anyway it doesn't matter".
