5x8.5
Get it done - Steven_Seagull
Blues are believed to be offering in the 7.5m to 8m for 8 years range. Given the differences in tax rates, it seems really unlikely 5x8.5 gets it done. You're basically offering him the same take home amount as St. Louis, but for shorter term. Even if Blues are at the lower end of the rumored range, offering 7.5m; it seems likely Toronto would need to be offering well over 9m per before it would make sense for him to take a deal less than 7 years. |

It's more like they love having his wife's parents in town to help with their 4 children all under the age of 3. His parents are in the Toronto area, which is why it is thought of as likely their second choice. - Antilles
Maybe they can sign Cody Ceci to be a babysitter? |

Not worth it. He can sign in Buffalo.
Edit: I’m sorry, I take that back. No one deserves that. |

Had this problem. Start casually mixing in the idea of moving just beyond what’s convenient for them. See how fast the narrative changes. |

I agree he isn't worth to the Leafs what it would probably take to get him signed. While he has made some mistakes (Faulk), Doug Armstrong overall has been good at offering players their value, and forcing other teams to over pay if they want to out bid him. Guys like Backes and Shattenkirk as examples.
With the Leafs seeming so close to putting it all together, I expect more players from the area to leave money on the table as UFA's to come try to be a part of their first championship in a while. I'll just be really surprised if Pietrangelo is one of them. Someone will be willing to overpay him. And if he isn't getting overpaid, I think he'll stay here. Him re-signing in St. Louis all but guarantees his jersey in the rafters and a statue out front. (I assume that sounds weird to Leafs fans, they have higher standards for those sorts of honors; but he was the first Blue to lift the Cup and will lead the franchise in many defensemen stats if he stays.) |

Obviously can't speak to your situation; but Pietrangelo's wife had tripletts and a husband who was gone for weeks at a time on road trips for work. Pretty much everything in St. Louis has painted her parents as being relatively involved and helping out. There was a decent number of stories about it (for St. Louis hockey media, anyways) because of the fact she had some miscarriages before hand followed by the rarity of having tripletts. They just added a fourth on Saturday. Which could help their desire to stay in St. Louis (I just had another infant, how could we leave my parents when they helped so much!) or hurt it (Wow, this is so much easier when it's one newborn at a time instead of three, we'll be fine wherever!) lol. |

I still don't think he will and I have been searching the internet daily for any pictures of Pietrangelo with Maple Leafs bed sheets.... No luck |
