Rossi would be the perfect number two c behind Larkin |

Not sure Rossi’s size will help the Wings? I’m still thinking of trade down and decide between Lundell (center) or Sanderson (defense) and develop one.

Not saying size doesn't matter at all, but choosing a less talented, less successful player just because he's bigger is the kind of thinking that causes teams to draft Michael Rasmussen at 9th overall.
The Wings' core problem is talent, not size. At 4th overall I think you gotta swing for the fences, and I think Rossi is the player with the highest ceiling who is likely to be available there -- unless maybe Byfield slides all the way, which I don't think is likely.

If you’re passing on an actual 1C target because he’s 5’9” but still is strong on the puck, you’re doing it wrong. |

While I predicted Raymond when the question was asked back in June, I'm hoping the Red Wings draft Rossi, who I think is likely to still be there at 4. - Sven22
Fair enough. I understand where you’re coming from |

Ok...Askarov's stock is rising, still think a flyer's taken on him then we deal for another 1st where we find a stud D or C, then keep on truckin' By the time Askarov is ready, we should be in good shape for competing for the play-offs....that's why I've spoken to DET taking salary dumps this year; salary dump + draft picks = fill the voids. Or not |

We desperately need a stud in net. If Yzerman pulls a deal to get one I’m ok with that |

We'd have to get an extra first round pick in the 10-15 range to have a shot at Askarov. Yzerman would have to take on a bad contract for this to happen. |

Generational G talent is....uummm....generational. It's always a risk, but when the risk pays off
When it doesn't . It's a risk-benefit analysis and estimating potential.....but if we take a salary dump + a 1st rounder, I'd be on that like Homer Simpson on a doughnut!!! |

Rossi is my pick if Stutzle or Byfield don't slide. Heck i would be tempted to pick him even if Byfield slides to 4th but not Stutzle.
Not sure why anyone would be worried about his size. I see him as a Brayden Point type of player in the NHL and Rossi is already heavier than him. Hell he's as heavy or heavier than most prospects slated to go in the top 10 not named Byfield. |

Yeah I'd have no problem if Yzerman drafted Rossi. He's going to be a heck of a player. |

It would have to be before 13 imo because i don't see Carolina passing on Askarov. |

I think Rossi could step into the 2nd line center position for the Wings right away. Byfield i think will be stuck like Rasmussen was...no point really to send him to beat up on kids in juniors, can't play in the AHL and not ready for the NHL.
NHL should negotiate an exemption for top 10 CHL drafted players to be able to play in the AHL. CHL will never go for that but it would help some players that are too good for juniors but not ready for the NHL to take the next step instead of wasting a year dominating younger players or struggling in the NHL. |

Likely the Preds pick at #11. We'd have to take Kyle Turris and his 4 years remaining at 6 mil AAV. Now that's a tough warm sandwich to stomach. |

I’m hearing a bit of Perfetti buzz. Also Lucas Raymond - Jeremy Laura
I read an article listing Perfetti’s numerous connections to the Red Wings with the conclusion being they would pick him at 4.
I think Detroit needs an elite defenseman badly and should pick Drysdale or Sanderson. Sanderson is the fastest rising player in this years draft and one of the youngest. We all hear about how young Byefield is but he is older than Sanderson. Some veteran scouts have him ranked third overall ahead of Stutzle or Byefield. I think Yserman will go D, Drysdale is small but good you can’t lose with either player. |

I tend to agree with you. I know there’s concern about the number of right shot D, but getting that backend set up the right way is so critical. Our goalies are going to see way too many high percentage scoring chances until we can get some stability. Hoping Seider can step in young. In the end, I have a lot of trust in Yzerman. The guy has a “builder’s” mindset. Thanks for popping in with this. Much appreciated! |

Yeah that would make yet another expensive 3rd line center. Buying Turris out would cost the Wings a 2 million cap hit until 2027-28. Would probably be better to eat up to half the salary and trade him to another team although would any team even want Turris at 3 mil a year for the next 4 years. |

Give the Sabres Turris @ 3mil a year plus two 2nd round picks (not the Wings 2nd round pick) for their 8th overall...then the Wings pick Stutzle/Byfield/Rossi at 4th, Sandersson at 8th and Askarov 11th |
