Hoping to see him if we make it to the finals, even if it’s in a reduced role due to his injury. Our powerplay is WAY more lethal with Stamkos on the left circle. |

Stamkos on the left halfboards, Kucherov on the right, Hedman at the point: To be honest, that's almost unfair. Make him the 11th forward and trot him out during power plays. Just the threat of that shot will pay dividends. The Lightning are going to need it against the Dallas defense. |

I think jvar17 just summed it up. The regular shift pace might be a bit much for him just stepping in. |

Testament to what Yzerman built*
Brisbois made some iffy trades for Coleman and Goodrow who are good players but not at that price (although it’s all moot if they win the cup) and signed Bogosian of all people lol
Lightning don’t need Stamkos. He’s just a mental midget. |

Yes, Yzerman built this team but Brisbois adds much needed grit and depth for the playoffs. It seems to be paying off so far. Actually they do not need Stammer so far, but they are stuck with him, And, no it is not a problem!

Also forgot whatever has kept him out of lineup right now. That said, I agree with Jimbro. He’s not going anywhere. Nmc. |

Eh. This team has been carried by their top line and Vasi. I’d have to look into the numbers a bit more but I’ve watched every lightning game and the bottom 2 lines aren’t really doing much. |

The Stakos situation reminds me of Lindros in 2000. The Flyers were up 3-1 in the ECF, having played all playoffs without Lindros. They lost game 5 and brought him back for Game 6, and they seemed like a different team, ultimately losing the series 4-3. Years later, many teammates revealed that his return was detrimental and disrupted what they had going on.
I wouldn't him back unless they're on the brink of elimination. |

A number of you have said Stamkos “is a mental midget”. To what, are you referring?

Much like the Grinch's heart, his brain is 2 sizes too small.

Lol On the podcast Spittin Chiclets, Biz called him a mental midget for changing around his stick tape colors and then I think they interviewed him and he called him out on it. Episode 151 is the stammer interview. |

I agree. These guys have been working their butts off to get where they are, shifting around the lineup now brings down moral and messes with chemistry. Unless he's 100% or it's a hail mary, leave him out and let him heal. |

Michael Stuart: Stop the Stamkos Silliness - Michael Stuart
You can say they are "one-off" injuries, and that is fair. But this is a very shot sighted take on the Stammers issue. The problem is that his 200' game has never been great, and he is a PP specialist. He hasn't been around for many of the games that counted, and trading him could bring in high draft picks/prospects while allowing you to keep Sergachev/Cerelli/Shattenkirk who have all been large pieces to this teams current success. Keeping Stammers leaves 5.3M Cap space ink a minimum of 4 D, and 3 forwards. The guy is 30 years old and moving him could keep the rest of this dominant squad intact. |

Sure, we can ignore the Goodrow-Gourde-Coleman line that totally was not involved in the comeback last game that changed the momentum of the entire game in general.
Also, let's ignore the impact they had against Columbus, Boston, and NYI in general (and at specific moments) as well.
As for the numbers (especially regarding their third line):

If you would have looked at the next sentence, I said I would have to look at the numbers. As that article says, they could score more (which goals tend to lend to the eye test a little more which is probably why I felt that way). Upon looking at those brief numbers in the article, they are playing well at controlling the play, I still would have wanted some more raw production, which is what I was saying in my initial post. |

To be fair, to state that the bottom two lines (especially the 3rd line) aren't really doing much (which isn't the case even by the eye test) is still an invalid statement to make regardless of looking into the numbers (even then it only strengthens their case). I'd go so far as to say that their bottom 6 is one of the biggest reasons for their success these playoffs, especially compared to the previous year.
We expected their top 6 to produce, for Hedman to be Hedman, and for Vasi to be the backbone for this team. But the acquisitions and management of JBB have given the team the ability to get to this point.
Edit: When it comes to the eye test (especially the 3rd line), their defensive play, physicality, tenacity on the forecheck, and unrelenting pressure in the offensive zone are on full display. Sure they may not score a ton, but that kind of play only leads to positive things. Also, I wouldn't solely measure their output via raw production (goals/points/assists I'm assuming). |

As for that article, that was just a link to the numbers for you.
I see your point nonetheless. I just wouldn't state that the bottom 6 didn't do much outright. Via the eye test and the numbers, they are doing a ton of good things. |
