He’s an NHL caliber player, sure. But would you honestly pay him $7mil if you could go back and negotiate? He held out for that. He was supposed to be able to play C, but he can’t. Look at his stats when he’s not playing with either JT/AM, they’re bruuuutal. Can’t be trusted to be on the ice on defensive draws, absolutely can’t kill penalties either. Why are they paying him $7mil? Dubas got ruse’d. His hockey iq is nominal at best, coaches always have to pull him aside and give him a kick in the ass. Avoids contact at all costs, won’t block shots.. that’s not how you win playoffs games. - Arctic_AARDVARK
I would absolutely pay him that again, perhaps it's your lack of understanding of how nhl contracts are evolving that has you so frustrated.
His 6.9 caphit is less than other RFA contracts recently signed by Nico Hischier, Kyle Conner and Clayton Keller.
I don't know of to many of these guys who are known to kill penalties or take a plethora of defensive zone starts so I'm not sure why that's even on the table. He's not that kind of player, and when you sign for a salary they don't suddenly expect you to become that kind of player.
He's never going to be looked on as that one player who drags his team to a cup win... And in reality no single player is. It's a team sport.
I don't even know why we are discussing this any further, it's clear you will pitch pretty much any unrealistic angle to poop all over him for no good reason. 🤷♂️
Well, I'm runnin' down a trade tryna plan a parade
I've got seven defensemen on my mind
Four GMs that wanna own me, two that wanna Mark Stone me
One says he's an ex player of mine
Take it easy
Take it easy
Don't let the sound of just trade Willy drive you crazy
Make cap room while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just sign Petro to make your stand
And take it easy - gergeswillems

That is a awful trade for the Leafs. People's obsession with Manson is nuts, he's not been good recently. - Archaic
The major piece suggested would be the #6 pick in a draft that is expected to be very good. Picking up Askarov at #6 might not be that awful. Would allow Leafs to move Andersen for assets and pick up more d-men. Manson is not the main piece by any stretch in that deal.

Lol..
I do it because I’m laying the groundwork for one of my most triumphant days. He’ll be traded, I’ll laugh, and it’ll be glorious.
It always plays out this way, because I see things from a more pragmatic POV than most.
Dubas is pissed at WN. He’s shopping him, and not getting the offers he wants. He’ll end up either retaining salary, or getting a lousy return.

Yeah see even there you're banging your head off a wall, I've never once said Willie won't or shouldn't be traded.
This started because of your endless claims that he's basically worthless, which doesn't exactly mesh with your him being traded hot take either.
I would totally advocate for Willie being traded in the right deal, the right deal to me is a top 4 RHD. Everything I'm seeing leaves me to believe that the Leafs prefer to keep him and believe they can find what they want without having to trade him.
His name has been in the rumour mill since well before he signed his extension, so I don't see how in the event it he is traded it makes you Aristotle. People have been saying he's gonna be traded for literal years now.

If it's possible to DFA a player mid game, the Jays should (frank)ing do it because Fisher is just embarrassing himself out there. It's gotten to the point that it's just straight up sad.
Manson hasn't been good the past few years. I'd take him if the cost was low. - PatC80
He's had a couple odd injuries. Freaky really... But he's plenty good and on a not good team ... he plays tough minutes against top comp. only signed for 4.1 for 2 more yrs..
Leaf fans clamoring for Gudas and these other stiffs but crumb on Josh.. Give your head a shake.

He’s useless at $7mil.
If he made $4mil, you wouldnt hear a peep from me about him.
Do you not want to win a cup, or??? Cause the Leafs will never win with him in the lineup. The window is now, can’t waste another year.

That is some bad baseball right there... Really bad..
