The NHL has confirmed Oct. 9 as the opening day of free agency. That means the Blues and Pietrangelo have less than a month to reach a deal. As I've written recently, there has been no progress. Things can change in a hurry, but it doesn't look promising at the moment. #stlblues

ya,.it just says they haven't come to a deal yet and frustrated. .like most players during slow talks.

Believe what you want.

I see a frustrated player because he cant get a deal done with his preferred destination.

Its what you get for signing Scandella and Fualk to stupid deals months prior.

- Santo_44

People with families don't make life altering decisions based on frustration that they don't have what they want weeks before a decision needs to be made. JT is on record saying they made that decision the actual morning of free agency.

You are clearly believing what you want.

LeBrun on TSN1050 says there is no question that Alex Pietrangelo has the Leafs on his radar but whether Toronto can clear enough space is another question. LeBrun suggests perhaps the Leafs should look at a trade to acquire a D, mentions Matt Dumba's name as a possible target.

Darren Dreger on TSN1050 said he thinks Toronto and Las Vegas would be near the top of Alex Pietrangelo's list of preferred destinations if he does not re-sign with the Blues

They have made it insanely obvious that talks have gone horribly.

Nice. Even if it doesn't happen, I'm liking just seeing it.

I love him because he’s Finnish.

In December, 2019 Saana Marin from Finland’s Social Democratic Party became the world’s youngest head of state. Her centre-left government, consists of a coalition of five parties, ALL LED BY WOMEN UNDER THE AGE OF 35.

I thought Marner was the only guy that should pay back some to the Leafs... JMO
- bixll

It was his butthurt father that was comparing Mitch to Matthews and being pissed for missed bonuses that Marner did not get while being the leading scorer on the Leafs for 2 seasons. It should have been handled better by management. Wonder how McKinnon's father feels when he sees his son is making $3 million less per season than Rantanen.

From his Athletic article:

It was rumored that Alex Pietrangelo was made an offer recently. Do you know anything about this or possible details? Was it a final offer or will there be more negotiations? — Dane C.

Yes, there have been discussions with some numbers included. One source said the Blues were offering a five-year deal that was closer to $7 million than $8 million.

The belief is that Pietrangelo is not happy with any of the offers he has received and he’s very disappointed in the way things have been handled. Last month, I reported that Pietrangelo was asking for less than what Nashville paid Roman Josi ($9 million AAV), but the Blues hadn’t gone more than $8 million. The feeling is that the captain would settle somewhere in the middle.

I imagine he ends up at 8-8.5 over 5 years. The fact he hasn't told them to go (frank) themselves with that offer tells me he isn't going anywhere.

You have 10 people trying to tell you otherwise... But your mandate is still that you're the only one capable of reading between the lines and someone with a reality check is 'believing what they want'. Jesus man, get over yourself.

Sandin doesn't make this lineup as a LHD with Dermott still around. Perhaps he eclipses him eventually... But he doesn't do it as a teenager with 25ish career games right out of camp. People may not like it but Dermott is ahead of Sandin until proven otherwise.

I would like to think that Dubas has learned enough to not be comfy going into the season with either Lehtonen or Holl in the top 4. Sooner or later he has to give these guys the platform to play within their means.

Time will tell. 🤷‍♂️

- joel878

Eh... I think he definitely does. This isn't about Dermott necessarily being better than Sandin but rather giving the young pup a legit shot at some meaningful minutes on the third pair. Unless he looks like absolute dogpoop in training camp, I think Sandin will be a lock at the beginning of the season and will be given a long leash.

Maybe they keep Dermott around as 7D or if Sandin/Lehtonen falters but I think he's as good as gone (trade asset).

You are the one shutting me down saying it “means nothing” after I put multiple quotes from respected insiders.

Sorry dude but you are a little annoying. You are the one who always thinks he is right here.

You are a narcissist that constantly belittles people’s opinions on here.

But hey, keep doing you. I hope for change for you, you’d be a better person because of it.
