I don't see Flames or Lightning being interested. Bolts could sign Shattenkirk or Bogosian a lot cheaper and they need to get contracts for Sergachev and Cernak . They also don't have cap space

Flames could bring back Hamonic and Brodie a lot cheaper.

If you can get him for a good number I think he’d be an excellent third pairing right side defenseman. Still got to get a top four right shot guy though.

i think they have to move on. as perfect of a 3rd pair guy he would be you know the canucks wont use him that way. they are too close and comfortable with him to see the decline and will continue using him in a top end role

exactly this. while the team is generally on the rise, his play will be on the decline. it's not next season that would scare me if he's re-signed, it's the 2-3 after.

the issue is that he's probably the best (read that as easiest to obtain) option for icing the best team for next season. put another way, if the objective is to ice the team with the best chance to win next season, he's a strong candidate to re-sign.

he likely is the best choice for them and pricepoint but i think bringing him back beyond a year boxes them into a corner because theyhave too much respect for him. they wont have the objectivity to reduce his ice time and rely on him like a crutch in key defensive situations whenever he comes back from injury

Reminds me of the Willie Mitchell situation where we just can't win with this one. If Tanev signs here he'll probably be injured half the time and if we let him walk he'll probably win two cups with a different club. I'm thinking the risk is just too high on his injuries time to let him walk like Mitchell.

I'd say losing Salo was much bigger than Ehrhoff. Hughes brings the elements on the PP we have been missing since Salo left basically. But yes there are parts of Ehrhoff's game we have missed.
