How do you figure? They get a younger winger that they can re-sign at a lower cap hit for a 35 year old who is on the decline. He has better point totals in the past but he is not guaranteed to hit that next season.

Johansson is 30. 364 points in 11 seasons. He’s not gonna resign for lower cap hit. Staal was minnys top line center. Obviously his best days are behind him. But he’s got a few years left as decent 2nd line or 3rd line center. Plus plenty of intangibles. That’s still worth something today. Minny is a team that needs complete rebuild. Johansson will get then 30-35 points next to seasons then leave. Very underwhelming for an asset that could’ve definitely got at least a little more

jake gardiner is one. Subban is another possibly. Yes not young but puck moving.

Ghost just needs to be moved for the betterment of everyone if he isnt going to play. If he finds success elsewhere so be it.

What teams would even want him? Arizona only has a few guys under contract after this year. I myself think the oilers would. Winnipeg? Don't think the market is all that big.

Even after this contract if he signs for 2 years 6 mil 3 mil aav that’s stil way overpayment for 30 points or so with basically no tangibles. That’s like nak but at 2 mil more per season.
