for my speech, I went with; "If I could just say a few words, I'd be a better public speaker" - PatC80
Legend has it my maternal grandfather (a Scotsman who was frugal with words) made the following speech at my parents' wedding:
"I am told that my role here is to give a speech welcoming (AW's dad) to the family. I don't think that's necessary: if he wasn't welcome, we wouldn't be here."
And then he sat down. |

Pierre Lebrun says on TSN1050 he believes there is a mutual interest between the Leafs and Pietrangelo if he doesn't re-sign and that Pietrangelo is frustrated he doesn't have a deal done with St Louis.
I'll take being the 2nd choice and winning by default because of some bad Going by stl. - Santo_44
it's all speculation at this point, but I would love Pietrangelo on the Leafs.. I really hope he also had Maple Leafs bed sheets as a child... |

Damn, I want Pietrangelo.
He likely just resigns in St Louis, but I think he is option A for Dubas and he will wait to see where Pietrangelo falls before making a move for a defenseman.
Could ultimately bite us in the ass if we end up waiting for Petro. |

Agreed.
I just dont see how unless the leafs dismantle what forward depth they have and go with 2 back up goalies.
But thats still 3 weeks away, alot can happen. |

If they bring in Pietrangelo, they will have time to decide what to do next..
trade Andersen/Johnsson/Kerfoot/Dermott.. |

I am sure it is more than speculation...pl wouldn't say it without having truth to it.
It makes a lot of sense for him here if the money doesn't work out in STL.
Goes to show you how having anchor contracts (frank) you over.
Who's taking Steen right now? Think a team out west is going to help a powerhouse STL team? nope. Does anyone in the east have the money...or if they do wouldnt they want a shot at the best D that hit the open market in years?
If Petro wants to stay a Blue it looks like he will have to take significantly less than he is worth, and maybe he does. We will see. |

If said fry is placed in front of oncoming Go Train? Yes, it counts as the The Final Migration |

I doubt any GM bets on adding any player.
They have all their options laid out and do it one step at a time.
If Petro is there for them they likely have a pretty damn good idea of what trades are out there for Willy/Kerfoot/Andersen/AJ |

they have 4.5M to resign Micky and Dermott.
They can save money in goal.
They can trade Willy.
When you have zero anchor contracts there is room for reconstruction.

Sweet!!!!
If he also had Leaf jorts as a kid, then the Blues might as well just give up on him now.
Dude's gonna be a Leaf for sure. |

It's speculation because no one knows what will actually happen.. Plus, technically teams are not yet allowed to talk to pending free agents.. So, unless Dubas or the Blues broke the rules, it's all a guess at this point.
With that said, go get him Kyle.. Bring home Pietrangelo |

One small note:
Unlike the past few years, this year will not have the "talk but don't sign" period prior to free agency.
When the doors open, 31 GMs are going to have to rush into the ballroom, clutching contracts. |
