The Islanders' PP% was 16th out of 24 teams in the playoffs this year, at 15.4%
That's worse than their regular season PP% which was already bad. If they finished the regular season with that PP% it would have been the 5th worst in the league - eichiefs9
Did not expect much pushback on the Isles PP. |

Just busting.... It's kind of a fine line between getting the D involved in the offense, and guarding against odd man rushes the other way. Isles did a pretty good job of limiting those odd man rushes. - JohnScammo
Gotcha John. I'm not looking for D behind the net like Cappy and Doug days but maybe one D man sneaking in and a forward hitting him with a pass and another forward covering. Tampa started having trouble when the Isles started doing this later in the game last night. |

OK, then I will let 7 explain himself. One obvious problem with the PP, as ses alluded to, is the lack of snipers on the team. The D isn't much help either. They need a Hedman or a Denis Potvin to quarterback the PP. Unfortunately, I don't see one among the D. |

Have to hope Dobson will be a big help with the PP as he develops. A lack of shooters at forwards is a huge problem and explains why changing the PP coach has not helped. |

They seem to take way too long to make decisions with the puck. Teams like Tampa are snapping it around out there and the Islanders look very unsure as to what it is they want to do.
Adding shooters will certainly help since they don't appear to have anyone that can really score from any distance, save for Pulock if one of his bombs finds the right spot.
Had they just been about "average" in the playoffs and potted maybe 2-3 more timely PP goals we might be sitting here waiting for game 7...or even better. |

I was talking about the PP in the last series.
That’s not why we lost. Both PKs were excellent. Again Tampa’s PP wasn’t effective but there’s no reason to change things up. I’m sure it will be effective against Dallas. |

Season on the line last night and the PP failed. That was a brutal PP in the OT. If Bellows is on the team next year he needs a real chance on the PP. |

The Islanders converted PP chances at 10.5% against Tampa. That's a pretty significant contributing factor to losing and the PP wasn't good over a bigger sample size during the regular season either. I'd say that's something they need to work on.
The PP in the Flyers series has nothing to do with losing to Tampa. Yes, PP was better than against Tampa. But the Islanders also fared even worse against Washington, with an unspectacular blueline and a washed up goalie that couldn't stop a beach ball. Isles PP was at 9% for that series. |

And Tampa was Tied at 11th with a 17% PP where would they have been in the regular season?
Come on Everyone’s PP % is typically worse in the POs because your not playing dogshat
Out of the top 10 PO teams on the PP Dallas 4th and Vegas 10th. The leaders were Edmonton, Calgary, Florida. PP didn’t help them much
So if you look at this they were Avg.

Anyone chirping the Isles today is not too bright. Past Isles teams I get not this one. - ses111
My brother is a rags fan and just HAD to post on FB this morning: "I would still rather have the first overall pick then almost making the finals but i will say Islanders are well coached. go rangers 2020-2021!"
I still contend he was adopted. |

This is not bad in terms of chirping though so I would give your brother a pass.
I'm talking more about the Isles are boring or never had a shot type chirping. |

Imho one of the biggest factors the PP suffers is Barzal. When he gets the puck he always holds it and waits and circles and then finally makes the pass he should have made before the ice capades he just performed. Not to mention his TO because of his stubbornness to make the smart easy play.
I think that’s why the Nelson unit was better. |

Take out game One. They scored 3 in that one which was an abortion on every front.
The Islanders and Tampa were both ineffective on the PP in the series and neither team won the series because of it. |

And hockey knowledge isn’t yours. You write a good stick and twist and turn. But typically your wrong
The sample size was the POs now it’s not? |

Nelson unit had zero PPG against Tampa or Philly
PPGF against Tampa:
Eberle from Lee/Barzal
Pulock from Leddy/Barzal
PPGF against Philly:
Lee from Barzal/Leddy
Lee from Eberle/Pulock
Barzal from Bailey/Eberle
Lee from Barzal/Eberle
Barzal had a point on 5 of the Islanders' 6 PPG in the final two series
Any other brilliant analysis for us coach? |
