Great run fellas. That was a lot of fun. Back in July I was leaning toward a shot at Laff but looking back if I had the choice I’d take this run all day. Great experience for the young guys and vets, living together for two and a half months in the bubble. They’ll take this experience to their graves and will always remember the guys they shared it with. Really looking forward to the offseason to see what Lou does. Can’t wait until next season and 2021 the new arena. Things are really looking up for our team. LGI!!

Isles gave the Lightning a scare. Varly was in the zone and nobody can blame him for the series loss. He played well enough to win.

The loss sucks for Isles fans, but there is also a lot to like from this series. The Islanders put up more of a fight than the Bruins did. With a couple of tweaks, this Islanders team will be a perennial contender.

Sadly, Brock's chance was their best shot to take that to game 7. Considering the putrid power play, it is amazing how far the Isles got on defense and goaltending. They did manage to score in these playoffs, however a true top line scoring winger who is a real threat on the power play is what this team needs. That, and a new power play scheme. Regardless, extremely proud of this team and while not winning the Cup sucks, the young guys on this team got invaluable playoff experience.

Well.....not too much to be upset about this morning. What a fun run.

Dobson looked mostly good last night given some pretty brutal circumstances for your first NHL playoff game. He's going to be a stud.

Leddy certainly upped his trade value

It really was a great run. Dobson really moves the puck well and has very good skill. Wonder if Leddy can bring back a forward or would it be draft picks?

Yeah I think every Isles fan is today, however you gotta be proud the way the team fought and never gave up.
The Staff and players have done their part and now Lou and Co need to get to work and sign Barzal, Toews and Pulock and make the changes necessary to take the next step next year.

Thought Leddy played well. This off season and the moves made will be extremely important. Couple shat signings and we should lift the cup in the near future.

He had his best game by far.. Even Trotz mentioned it. "He was best player on the ice for us tonight." telling.

I'm not sure if Isles can move Leddy and re-sign Greene and have Greene and Dobson as a 3rd pair? Pelech and Pulock would be 1st pair but does that mean Toews and Boychuk as 2nd pair? Lots of decisions this offseason.

Well Gents.. it was a heck of a run, but I can't help feeling like we really gave up a golden opportunity to win the cup. We were 6 wins away from the cup without facing Boston, Carolina, and got a Tampa team with no Stamkos and a banged up Point.

We also would have played Dallas and not Vegas or St. Louis.

Brock missing that break away shorty and Barzal giving puck away 3 times on that pp is going to haunt me for a while. Barzal also looked a lot like our old C on that last shift. He just did not feel like engaging on D at all for that shift.. was frustrating to watch. I was yelling at my TV as they were scoring. Fastest guy on the ice didn't feel like skating.

I think Greene was a nice deadline acquisition and clearly helped a lot during the playoff run, but these last few games he looked his age and I don't want him back on the team.

I really like the idea of Dobson learning from Greene but Greene's age is a factor for sure.

Barzal had a rough series no doubt. He’s young and it’s a learning experience. Lou Lam had a deal for zack Parise. He’ll be an islander next year I believe. This team has a really bright future.

Depends on the team, I guess.

TOR could be a fit but they'd have to send salary back so it probably doesn't work for either side and I'm pretty sure they're in the RHD market anyway. They'll probably be offering up Nylander for Dumba, if I had to guess.

NJ seems like a real good fit, as much as you hate to trade someone inside your own division. Palmieri is heading into the final year of his deal and makes about $1M less than Leddy. Not sure how I feel about trading Leddy for what would likely amount to a 1 year rental...but the cap space gained after Palmieri's deal would be up would be good too. They'd essentially be getting cap savings from Leddy's deal a year early.

Florida's defense resembles an ice cream cone filled with human feces, so they could be a match but that would likely have to be a strictly-futures deal because there's really nobody on that roster that a) we'd want and/or b) they'd trade for Leddy.

DET and OTT have the cap room and the draft capital (OTT has 7 (frank)ing picks in the first two rounds!) to be able to afford to get him but they're probably a little early in their rebuild phase to really justify spending assets on a 30yo defenseman signed for only 2 years.

WPG's defense is ugly too but that's another team where it would probably have to be futures-only. Leddy isn't getting Wheeler/Laine/Scheifele/Ehlers/Conner and there's nothing left after them that I see as useful for us.

Maybe Buffalo? I dunno, seems unlikely but they seem to be interested in older assets since they just acquired Staal.

So who knows, now I'm positive it'll end up being an entirely different team.

But I'd put my money on NJ as the best fit. Maybe we can get Palmieri and our 2021 2nd round pick back for Leddy.

I saw something briefly the other day about EDM wanting to trade Athanasiou's RFA rights before he's due a $3M QO is due on October 3rd (or around then). He probably wouldn't cost much to acquire but then you're just adding another RFA they have to sign for a minimum of $3M and I'm not sure he's worth that.

When you make a run like this you can only appreciate it for a bit and then it’s back to the task at hand. Signing the 3 that definitely need to be signed and then who or what pieces can be let go and obviously what pieces available out there is the piece or pieces you feel give you what you need to achieved the ultimate goal and what it would cost as far as players and or assets to get them.
Going to be very interesting to see what moves or non moves are made in the off season and what it takes as far as Money and term to get Barzal,Toews and Pulock signed.

It's going to be very interesting for sure. Right now it seems picks would be brought back for Leddy but that can change. I have no issue trading Leddy to NJ if it's the best deal. Leddy is not a star you worry about haunting you for years. Staal was an interesting move for Buffalo and I'm sure they thought he was needed for the dressing room or could he be moved again?

You guys lost to arguably the most talented team in the cap era.

Congrats on a good playoff run.

Fans can enjoy this run for a little while but Lou and Barry have to get back to work quickly. I posted yesterday the Isles should finally be attractive to FA's but the Cap is tight and you usually do not have a lot of quality FA's available anyway. Lou will need to be very creative and you figure this is the year you see more young players on the 3rd and 4th lines. The trick is how to improve the top 6?

Thanks Atomic Wedgie. No shame at all in losing to Tampa. I thought it was very unlikely the Isles win this series. Was a great run though.

I didn't expect to beat them, but I knew it was entirely possible. Not blaming the loss on it whatsoever, but it really sucked that they had to fly across three time zones and then play game one 24hrs later, immediately after finishing a 7 game series.

They played pretty well against the best team, on paper, in the league. Plus Hedman is a god damn superhuman.

christ I wish Nelson converted that shorthanded breakaway in OT though. That would've been a back-breaker for them.

No, they desperately needed a 2C behind Eichel and throwing Cozens into that role as as rookie probably wouldn't have yielded particularly good results for the team or the development of a top pick. Staal is there to play.

I'm also not entirely sure that Toews isn't the guy that ends up getting moved. Trotz had some pretty high praise for Leddy's playoff performance last night, he may prefer to keep him and have Lou move Toews.

Toews being younger would have more value. Toews should not be an untouchable player for sure.

Really had to like the Isles chances in a game 7 if they pulled that game off last night. Just do not have a good feeling when Nelson did not score and not coming through on the PP clinched it.
