anyone watch HJALMARSSON at all, I know he was hurt last year but pretty even player, 1 year left would Yotes eat half or could you send JVR in a package for HJALMARSSON and Grabner.I would prefer to fill the holes for the long term, just spit balling 1 year options to go for it next season, not saying those 2 put Flyers into contender status. Sling some ideas
Why on earth would AZ do this? They are in worse shape cap-wise, and talent-wise than the Flyers. And you want them to eat 1/2 the contract? Or send Grabner too?
- Levit8
well I didnt say just JVR I also referenced they have NO picks in the first 3 rounds this season. The cap hits are over 8 mil with both and both will most likely leave next season, I believe they are FA's. JVR is a middle six forward. You think Hall might stay? Their list of FA and RFA this year and next is almost half of the team. I am going to guess and say that they are going to remake the team, they will need picks, they will also need some NHL players. Is a 1st, JVR and maybe something else worth 2 older soon to be FA's? Hell is it to much? JVR is productive and he has 3 years left, in a rebuild he might be a good add.
sorry the eat 1-2 was a mistake, not sure how I go that in there |

Why didn't 37 year old Andy Greene outscore Kucherov and Point? - PLindbergh31
You cant seriously be asking this question...
You are comparing a stay at home defenceman to two elite forwards...... |

JVR is not a useless player. He has 3 years at 7 million. He was productive last season, he scores 5 v 5. My guess is he has a good season coming up, he has something to prove after the PO. Then he will have 2 years at 7, while the contract is an issue, its not that long of an issue. I don't think they should just give him away. |

He was referring sarcastically to the previous series the Isles played.

After the round robin, I put money in on Avs, Flyers and Lightning. However, after Point went down and they managed to win game 4, I put some money on Isles to cover. My worst case scenario is that Lightning will be slowed by injury and will lose.
As for my own pick for the day, I choose Rams, and the over in the spread. Crippled LJ, JP looking awful, rookie RG, no training camp for WRs, this one should yield big. But I don't bet against my own team so I will sit this one out. - PT21
You can cover your hockey picks by betting Dallas to win series. Miro the great will lead them to promise land #patrickthebust |

Dallas starts -190. If I took that, I would essentially break even AT BEST. I don't think Dallas wins.
Stamkos looked kinda gimpy yesterday at the POW trophy presentation. Hoping he plays. |

I wonder if the Flyers would have interest in Danault as a 3C. 27 years old with 1 year left on his contract at 3mil. If Patrick bounces back they can trade Danault at the deadline. If not they extend him. Habs allegedly have him on the block. |

It can't be serious that he outscored Giroux and Konecny can it? |

Bet the house on Dallas. Doesn’t matter what there -190 they aren’t going to lose. You win what you bet when miro the great hoist cup |

Danault has come out and said he isn't a 3C and doesnt want that role...that is why he wants out of Montreal as he is behind Kotkaniemi and Suzuki going forward.
why bring him in to be disgruntled here? Sounds like a recipe for disaster |

That is due to separate issues. Konecny isnt elite, he is going through growing pains of a young player.
Giroux is all speculation. He had a bad playoff and it is probably safe to say our coach knows why and is going to work with him to fix it. Most our top 6 was MIA olin the playoffs
Giroux will bounce back. It isnt like he wasnt getting chances. Varlamov robbed Giroux on many occasions. |

Why would Calgary accept that deal? They wouldn’t in a million years, unless the GM is completely inept.
I’m sure conversations are happening, which is what Ek reports on. But chalk this one up to pie in the sky speculation. - StepfordSam
I thought it was a fantastic deal for the Flyers... |

I know Ek is almost always wrong and often way off base, but in his latest post he speculates that the Flyers are talking to the Flames about Gudreau and the return would be a package that could include Ghost & JVR. God, I hope he's right for once...
I'm not saying Gudreau fixes everything. But bringing him in, even with that contract, while swapping out Ghost & JVR, would definitely be a step in the right direction IMO. Even if the Flyers needed to add a pick or prospect, I'd be all about that deal - Big_E_88
I'd have no problem at all with that deal, either. |

Nah. Barring injury, I like my chances. If Landeskog had played game 7, we would have had Avs here instead of Dallas.
As for Miro, great future, but I think his time is up for this playoffs. |

I really don't understand what you're trying to say. You don't want to give JVR away, but you'll trade him for a 3rd pairing D and a 4LW who combined for 73 games and 16 points? Yes, both are on expiring contracts but I think AZ wants that considering what is on the horizon for them. No way either team makes the deal, especially AZ.
I wish Tanner was here for some sound analysis. |

maybe you can text him.
I don't think any of us will present a trade that will happen but maybe you can. Why would Arizona not want assets for their expiring contracts, especially when they have no picks? They have a decent farm system but they have a lot of holes. I do think JVR has value but would I move him to fill a D hole and add speed on the wing? Would it be worth JVR and a pick or something else to move JVR, maybe again. It depends if the Flyers have a plan to replace JVR's production. I am not saying this is a deal but would it fill some holes with the Flyers and it does have value to the Yotes, could be.

Give me a break. Give me the other series where a journeyman # 6 dman, outscored the oppositions leading scorer(s). It's absurd. Can't happen.
I'll make a prediction, Luke Schenn isn't going to outscore Pavelski and Seguin in the SCF. |

Indeed, Pavel... that was Greene 2, Giroux and Konecny 1.
So your point is what, exactly? The Islanders outplayed the Flyers? Everyone knows that. You don't have pull a random stat with no context to show it.
Since only goal totals matter in this post, let's reverse yours with something more deceptive but factually true. Phil Myers +Tyler Pitlick + Matt Niskanen + JVR had more combined goals scored in the series (five) than Mat Barzal + Jordan Eberle + Josh Bailey+Anthony Beauvillier (four).
That's an even bigger "so what?" You want to say Barzal skated circles around the Flyers and created scoring chances galore? Want to say the Flyers struggled to deal with Anders Lee and Brock Nelson and that Bailey carved to D several times? I will agree with all of that. Impossible to dispute, in fact.
But Andy Greene's Game 1 1st period shot through a maze of traffic, and Voracek blowing a weak side coverage and Greene having a wide open lane to the dot and hitting a half-empty net
to make it 2-0 in Game 7 was far from the story of the series.

Another year without a Championship, and more excuses. Wash/Rinse/Repeat.
45 years and counting.
They will always have 1995 and 2000 dismantling Lamoriello.
The teams best players were invisible again. When they bring back basically the same team next year, and go nowhere all the same cast of characters will be there to spin it. |
