I don't think AP makes the difference.
And Marner would be the last player I would trade on this Leafs team - even after Matthews - MaximusAurelius
I don't like weak ass little players, Tkachuk and AP would make team way tougher to play against. |

Been a very very long time I caught the first game of NHL playoff finals. (Toronto out, after a long season of NHL hockey, weather nice start of summer etc)
Will be great to see how Dallas and Tampa match up - I very much hope Dallas wins, I always liked the Stars in the West, and Heiskanen is one of my favorite players in league already, and of course Roope
Dallas has a great build for the playoffs, no big weaknesses (Tampa as well, but I never cared about that org).
Just hope Khudobin can keep it up, and Klingberg doesn't make big defensive mistakes (weakest link on Dallas d - he profits very much of lindell playing on his side).
Go Dallas! |

I wonder if teams were told no announcing trades during the SCF. |

The reason why I suggest Pietrangelo could be had at 7x7 by leafs is related to structure of the deal, and very importantly - a stlouis contract isn't as secure as a leafs contract. With the chances of several organizations folding next 2 seasons (Florida, Arizona 1st candidates) organizations like rangers, leafs and habs suddenly become even more attractive.
I have no idea what would happen with player's contracts of organizations that would fold, but it's definitely a risk - and st Louis is middle of the pack as for financial health.. - MaximusAurelius
LOL. I give you credit for creativity as delusional as it may be. No franchises are going to fold. You didn't address the structure whatsoever. So how is it related to the structure? Explain yourself. Do you realize where the value in an NHL franchise lies? Do you realize how pro sports teams "cook" the books for tax purposes?

A couple of things from the interview in the Athletic - the guy is articulate as hell and seems pretty centred. Hangups on the structure were NMC and bonuses in the last two years of the contract which would guarantee a cash payout if he gets bought out.
If the money really isn’t a problem, these seem fixable even if Armstrong doesn’t do NMCs. Other possibility is that no deal is happening because they need money for Paryko and this is just face saving.
I can’t see that the last two year thing would be a deal breaker for Leafs. |

Nhl will have a shortened season 20-21, if any season at all.
League might start for 2021-2022 season with 3 - 4 teams less.
As for structure of a deal: max signing bonuses and least risk for Pietrangelo (or any other Ufa that would sign with leafs) to potentially lose part of the money due to unforeseen circumstances |

You're inventing this and it is fiction. No teams are going to fold. Many, many teams give players front loaded contracts with signing bonuses. None of what you state justifies your ridiculous position that Pietrangelo will sign a 7 X 7 deal

Certainly they will have a shortened season, so it's not all fiction. Teams folding is at least a possibility. |

It's a bs award voted on by other GMs.
If you can name me one move he made this year that would make him deserving of an award, I'm all ears. - mjones242
I can name a few thing that should've cinched him not getting a single vote. |

Only the coyotes....
They will relocate before they close up shop. The league itself HAS money.
Plus there's Scrooge McLeafs to go beg for money from.

The shortened season is a possibility. Obviously the part about teams folding is the fiction part. No teams are going to fold. |

Yeah, I think relocation is more likely. Although wherever they move to will be playing in front of no fans too so things don't get better for the Houston Coyotes right away.
Definitely a full season next sesson was a write-off some time ago. |

The NHL should go with a luxury tax, and let the big money teams spend over the salary cap by 10%. That money goes into the smaller market teams, and the Leafs can buy a championship! Everybody wins! Except the Sabres. |
