Pierre LeBrun on TSN1040 on Friday said Loui Eriksson’s agent JP Barry has the green light from the Vancouver #Canucks to be calling other teams directly himself to try and find his client a new home.

They've been giving up a lot of yards in the air, worse tonight when their two safties were gone from the game. They'll bring that back down. Still can't pressure a QB worth a damn. That and letting teams escape 3rd and 10s doesn't help....
But, 2-0 against a couple good teams |

Defence came up big when they needed to on the two yard line. Newton is 6’5” 240 lbs, he’s a beast to stop and he got absolutely stuffed on that last play |

“In yesterday's blog, I discussed at length why a team's regular season goals against average has been a much better indicator in recent years of the club's likelihood of reaching the playoffs than where the team ranks in goals per game. That's why, in a salary cap world (most especially in a long-range flat cap projection), having a player with good goal-scoring ability but limited value in most other aspects of the game is a mighty expensive luxury.”

Not sure anyone’s interested but Bill Meltzer had a good read on the success of being a good defensive hockey team as opposed to being just a high scoring offensive team. If the Canucks hope to find success in the near future they’re going to have to get better defensively as a team.
Hopefully Benning can shore up the defence and find a coach more committed to sound defensive structure. |

Hjarlmarsson not waiving NMC - VANTEL
As you mentioned a couple weeks back, a player like Juulsen would be a nice fit on Canucks.
I know when I brought his name up a couple years ago, Don didn't like the idea.
They need a goalscorer winger with some size, maybe that could be a starting point for some type of deal between these 2 clubs. |

Juulsen is a good get , He would be like OJ a good young player that would impact the team in 2-3 years.
I hope this year we get Severson out of NJ , I also like Luke Schenn as the bottom pairing. Of course also bring in OJ

This team needs to add a top 4 Dman not a bottom pairing one imo |

Well you have Benn as a bottom pairing D, OJ Rafferty and Tryamkin that you could audition for it, as well as Stecher and Fantenberg that you could bring back. Lots of internal options. There are no internal options for a top 4 guy apart from Tanev, so I see that as the most pressing need to fill. |

True. Then there is the hope by Canucks that Rathbone or OJ can be 4D guys. Doesn't address right side unless Tryamkin who plays that side can prove he's good enough.

That is what I thought too.
I think Boeser is a good young player who will put up decent numbers but no way would I classify him as a sniper. Him and Jake both finished the year with 20 goals playoffs included.
I think his release is slow . I am not complaining about him but no way is he untradeable. I doubt his value gets higher than now.

I dunno about slow so much as I think he looked hesitant to shoot for much of the year. I wonder if the wrist injury had a permanent effect or if he will eventually get the shoot first mentality back. It doesn't hurt him too much when he plays with Petey and Miller since they can both shoot but it definitely hurts him when he gets pushed down the lineup. |

He's looked very hesitant and slow with his release, especially in the playoffs.
He needs those guy to create space and set him up – he's not a player who's able to do it on his own well enough or consistently. When he gets pushed down the lineup, it definitely exposes that. |

Petey and Miller made everyone look good who played with them. The list is long of the number of players who would love to fill that spot.
Again nothing bad to say about Brock but I think there is more value in him as a trade chip than him as the player. I understand there will be a lot of people to disagree.
