This was G's worst season. One that has most Flyers fans, including yourself based on prior posts, legitimately concerned. So pointing out that JVR matched him means virtually nothing.
Your last sentence is overly-vague on purpose, as is your style when trying to prove a point. And I would just counter by saying that most goal scoring wingers making $7M do not need anywhere near the amount of help from their line mates that JVR does.

I disagree that it means virtually nothing. JVR's ES scoring for his role and deployment was solid. That's what it means. My last sentence isn't in the least bit vague. It's simply the facts. You're wrong on all accounts in my opinion. If you want to say JVR was not a good player in the playoffs overall, I'm on board. Your comment that he is shot as a player is completely without merit.

JVR is a one-trick pony. He scores goals, and that's it. When he's not scoring goals, he serves no purpose for the team. He is not what the Flyers needed, nor is he now.

Drafting a running back in the current NFL that high doesn’t make sense. I was against the pick from jump street. Not to mention when you surround the RB with a trash offensive line.

Fair enough. I can't wait to tune in next season to watch JVR play and be proved wrong. That is if he's in the lineup.

That's the spirit. Too many in here would rather be proved right to the detriment of the team.

You're stating that JVR is a shot player. Bill just gave an analysis on JVR as a player. What in his analysis pointed towards JVR being a shot player? You claimed that your eyes told you that he is a shot player. Are you clairvoyant and can look into the future with your eyes or were your eyes looking at JVR this past season?

I think a lot of people have false expectations to what ghost is. Yes he can pass and shoot. Isn’t slow but isn’t fast in a straight line. Excellent lateral movement. He said it himself. No one knew him at first. Once his game was figured out. That was it. When you check him. Don’t worry about the puck, take the body. And block the shooting lane. That’s it. He is not good in his own end. Reminds me of a smaller Streit.

His one great season. He was also playing with good players. Not gonna take the time to look it up. But 52 assists. Yes. And 13 goals. But look who he was passing to at the time. G more in his prime. Jake more in his prime. Simmonds was one of the top pp net front and power forwards around. Coots more coming into his own.

Yes he has offensive skill. But I think that year was more due to the teams play. He if played right will get you 40 points. But at what cost.

Because we should have had Patty Kane? But we are the Flyers?

Or because you had such clarity that Kyle Turris or Thomas Hickey were the better picks for the Flyers at #2?

JVR has to play in the top six to succeed. He should have been playing on Couturier's left wing instead of Giroux

So lets assume full health... lineup is simply by contracts not predictive of actual lines.. assuming we re sign all rfa and left all ufa walk.

Giroux coots jake
Jvr hayes tk
Lindblom laughton nak
Farabee patrick raffl

Provy niskanen
Sanheim myers
Ghost hagg
Friedman

Is this team good enough to win ? Make a deep run ? Potentially. Does it really give any room to get better unless it comes from the youth ? No.

With all the rumors of shopping jvr and ghost. How does that benefit us ? Can those guys get us improvements? Probably not as they'd both be selling low. Mine as well keep them honestly.

I like O'Connor mock draft where we take gunler. Though it would be far off our typical strategy.
