Good lord, so much sturm und drang (look it up) about Debrincat.

He had a career low shooting percentage last season. He got his shots, they just didn't go in. He's a sniper, and you need those on any team.

17-18 - 181 shots; 28 goals; 15.5% shooting percentage
18-19 - 220 shots; 41 goals; 18.6% shooting percentage
19-20 - 207 shots; 18 goals; 8.7% shooting percentage

If he gets 200 shots, he'll likely score 25-30 goals.

New blog coming out in a little bit.

Quick announcement that may ruffles some feathers: the Hogs have signed Cody Franson to an AHL deal.

- Theo Fox

I think it is a good signing. Wasn't Franson great when he went back to the A, took his demotion like a professional? Supposedly JC loved his leadership. I can see him being a on ice coach for the defenseman.

This way Rocky doesn't have to pay for another coach, they use a player coach.

He and his coaches / trainers / mentors need to figure out: (a) did the opposition catch up to him? (b) was he doing something different that caused the dramatic reduction in shooting percentage?

In either case - it's up to Mr. deBrincat (with the help of his coaches / trainers / mentors) to make the required adjustments to get back to being the sniper we fell in love with. Probably the first time in his career going back to juniors that he has ever had so much trouble: need to see how he handles it going forward.

The great players (or even the "very good") can do that.

Is 207 shots, shots on net or attempted shots? There were so many games where ADB just missed the net with a snipe. I tend to go along with his shooting percentage will start to revert to the mean, and 30 goals is a realistic outcome this year.

I personally don't mind it either if Franson is purely a depth and leadership signing for the Hogs. You hit the nail on the head with how he performed and led in Rockford when he was demoted.

Trade in the works? Hornqvist from PIT to FLA for Matheson. Not official yet. Some type of glitch, maybe because of Hornqvist's NTC?

Theo - perhaps - a potential future blog (altho you seem to have enough good ideas on your own):

What kind of season do YOU expect certain players to have next season.

Not hope - but realistic projection - not three / four years from now - but next season.

I would go with:

DeBrincat
Dach
Boqvist
Kubalik
Strome
Nylander
Seabrook
Any other skater who could progress or regress next season

Thanks for the great idea, STL. I will add this to the growing topic list. Need some more topics to help fill up the latter part of October and November.

I suspect a player with higher upside/ceiling will be available at #14-15 than at our #17. The issue is, we shouldn't trade what it takes to get the highe selection.

I envision Holloway or Mercer and maybe Askarov will be plucked before we choose at #17. I do not want to move Murphy yet. He needs to play here with one or two - even three kids by season end breaking in and playing regularly. Murphy offers this: he is good, he has experience, his style is a good match for offensive talented dmen prospects whom are not big burly and mean

I have thought how Saad being moved works if you can draft a Holloway as a replacement. This although Holloway likely not NHL ready next season

I am not going to try to figure out trafes. But this sory of trade is the only type I want to see happen..Bowman wants to save money and he wants to get younger. No third line type players or dmen coming here so I don't see any sense in suggesting trades for those sort. Bowman has said he wants to get younger. I believe he wants to see prospects advsnce to the NHL.

I expect Caggiula, Carpenter to move along. Smith of course too. How soon ...certainly they won't be here after expansion. A couple dmen will be gone too. Where they wind up is not necessarily on the Seattle expansion team

As long as each year is counted the same way it doesn't really matter if its shots, on goal or attempted. Comparing Apples to Apples means if he goes back to the mean his goal total will increase. In addition, he had same or more shots in less games.
