Oh, Rossi also went on to opine that Jarry's contract could be closer to $4M. |

Sorry, i got tilted. Blacked out for a minute. Just a little passionate about these (frank)ing thieving gaming companies stealing money from people, and dippoop "critics" give them great rating and reviews.
This PGA game, sincerely, is not 1/20th of TW 2006. Its embarrassing.

Rust or no rust don’t matter if jj is still on the team. Same with 1 tanev or 2.
I’d like to see all 3 of Sid, geno, and letang retire as pens. I am interested to see how their next contracts look though. Sid is a foregone conclusion. If he wants 12 m I’d give it to him but when his contract is over he could be too, and he will also be quite a bit older than the other 2 at resigning but you know he will want 8.7. Too bad the bastard wasn’t born in like May haha. The other 2 will be interesting. If they want max dollars I’d sign and trade.

Ugg... already had to deal with all the McCann trade talk... now were talking about Rust. These should be the kinds of players that form the Pens identity. I am against this idea.
I can think of a few semi-plausible scenarios for a Rust trade:
1. Package Rust with Murray for a huge return -- Like I'm talking getting Byram or Newhook out of Colorado. Or like Timmins + Burakovsky... Nurse + Puljujarvi... or something. I dunno throwing poop against the wall here...
2. Trade Rust to a "transitioning" team for an equivalent (but older) player + something. So like Rust for Palmieri + Wood/draft pick. My thinking is that Palmieri isnt in NJ's long term plans... so they get the younger, cost-controlled asset... that they can then flip for something good again in a few years.
3. Package Rust to get rid of deadweight. (Please dont let this happen). Sure we could rid ourselves of JJ/Horny or whatever bad contract... and sure we could sign Toffoli or someone in free agency with freed up space. Well hey im almost talking myself into it...
4. Trade Rust for a big time 3C. So, maybe someone like Henrique/Domi/Backlund/Danault. Other parts involved but you get the idea. - YouMeAndDupuis9
Byram or Newhook. Lmao. |

So, I played around on capfriendly based on everything from that article
TO FLA: Bryan Rust
TO PIT: Noel Acciari + Serron Noel (RW - 2nd round (34th) pick in 2018)
Simon: 2 years at $900K
Jarry: 4 years at $4M
Tanev: 6 years at $3.75
Jake-Sid-Kap
Zuck-Geno-Horn
Simon-McCann-Acciari
ZAR-Blue-Tanev
Dumo/Letang
Petts/Marino
JJ/Tanev
I threw up in my mouth a little from this, but I'd imagine things could look very much like this. |

Well the other questions he answered were probably the only non-Jack Johnson questions he received.

Completely agree, The fact that you don't have full stat customization in EASHL is crazy. The game is so vanilla, filled with glitch goals and plays. not only did they take it away in 2013...i think...they claimed they "added" a new player type feature to your player in EASHL...FOH

When JR's reign is all finished there is one thing nobody can take away from him. He is more active than any GM the Pens every had and more active than most GM's I've seen in my years of watching hockey. Fans love seeing trades and signing new players. For good or for bad, JR does not let fans down in that respect. |

Well Rust probably is the Pens best trade chips. He has been great, on a great contract. Only questions are what can you get and do you believe he is due for regression.
I remember Edmonton was in on him. I suspect Montreal would be also. But you really need a good package for him. Someone already mentioned pairing up Rust and Murray going there, wont say any of this is outstanding, but I could see anything like below happening:
Rust & Murray for Puljujarvi, a 1st and Larsson.
Rust & Murray for Nurse and Kassian.
Rust, Petterson & Murray for Nurse, Puljujarvi and a 1st.
Rust & JJ for Neal & a 2nd.

Nurse makes no sense unless they plan on moving out Pettersson.
If Larsson comes back, JR better make damn sure they're retaining at least 30% if not more.
And Neal? Where exactly are they fitting that cap space not to mention he's a bum.

It probably does on MTL's end, but I don't believe it works financially for the Pens. My assumption is Domi will be be getting around the $5M mark.

Yohe & Rossi have a joint article today that says teams are calling on Rust and he is our best trade chip. Says they don’t want to move him but if package is significant they will give it serious thought. And that as the offseason gets closer there is a growing sentiment he will get an “offer too good to pass up” (NHL ready player and top prospect).
Also says he is trying to open cap space to make a run at signing Chris Tanev. - kfinl170
Step one: overpay with futures for Kapanen so you can solidify your top 6 RWs.
Step two: cash in on Rust's big year by trading him for futures opening up a hole in your top 6 RWs.
Step three: overpay a 3rd pairing defenseman with the savings, ignoring that you just made a hole in the top 6 you felt a need a month ago to trade your 1st for.
