I think we can get lots more for Laine. If we do a trade with New Jersey, the conversation should begin with Hischer.
I have a good feeling about Stanley. I give him a pass for last year. He has the potential to be just as effective as Lowry. - TheUltimateJet
Hischier is a great start.
Stanley is already a bust. He struggles in the AHL. Weird take |

Ideal trade for Laine.
To NJ: Patrik Laine
To WPG: Nico Hischer, 20 OA, PK Subban (just because I love him) - TheUltimateJet

Players always seem to fall for whatever reason at the draft, some reasons we can understand, some we don't.
I'm wondering if Rossi might be that player this year? Therefore that would be good, keep the acquired pick. Can see it being: (1-8) Lafrennieire, Sutzle, Byfield, Perfetti, Drysdale, Raymond, Sanderson, and J. Quinn. Then does Minny take the goalie Askarov or Rossi?
Now if Minny takes the goalie, Rossi would be there for us. If not, would take the Swedish RW Holtz. For whatever reason, not a Lundell fan even though we need a C (thus far).
But like you say, Rossi or Perfetti should be there at #7
The Brandon RH d-man Schneider would be a good pick if we have a later pick as well.
Just my guesses! - grahamzky
Firstly Congrats to Connor Hellebuyck. Hard work and confidence paid off big time.
Onto the draft. Yes, likely Rossi will go 7th. Holtz also won't be around by the time the JETS draft. Minny is therefore the real wildcard for the Jets in this draft. Jets will take one of four players....Sanderson, Quinn, Lundell, or Seth Jarvis. Minny could in theory take any one of those. I really think Sanderson is the best player in that group but like Ross said, we don't need a LHD. Scouts say Lundell is ranked higher than he should because he's the next best centerman left. Jarvis might be his equal. I don't think the Jets want Quinn , therefore I think our best hope is Minny takes him and it gives us a choice of Sanderson, Jarvis, or Lundell.

I’m not so sure the devils even do that one for one?
I honestly hope you are right about Stanley, I just don’t see it. His skating is not even at an AHL level. |

Subban is terrible and is a massive cap dump, this isn't all that great of a deal for Laine. |

No to Subban !
Overrated and overpaid.

Yea, so much speculation, which is good. Fans step out and make their picks before the draft rather than second-guess later.
Can't see NJ taking Rossi at 7th, they already have Hischier and Hughes - unless - they are thinking of trading Hischier for Laine. Sanderson?
Would think Holtz OR Quinn would be available at the Jets #10 pick. Either pick would be great, said to be almost NHL ready.
Would love Sanderson at #10 but as you and others have said - LH d-man. Off to university this fall. H-m-m-m?
Scared off by Lundell as one report said he imay be be "a 3rd line centre in the NHL." Don't know if they know what they are talking about, but it scares me.
Wonder if the Jets might take a swing (home run or bust) at C H. Lapierre (concussion issues)? Safe centre might be home-town Jarvis kid?
Think the Wild will take the Russian goalie, Askarov? The Wild aren't going to contend for a few years anyway.
Anyone have intelligent answers? Or answers? |

Jersey would do it it a second. Dunno how much you’ve gotten to watch the Devils, but this is a big win for NJ. Subban is nowhere Bear the player he was 5 years ago. Please toss those ideas out of your mind. Plus, Hischier is a nice secondary piece, but nothin special. Definitely not somebody you build a team around.
The Devils are strapped with that PK contract, not only are you taking on that albatross, but you’re giving up a player in their early 20s who actually pots a lot of goals in order to take their burden away.
Don’t do this. Please. As a fan of NJ’s rival, I beg of you not to help that team get better more quickly than they already are. |

Wait a minute, hold on! Are you telling me that we can get even more from New Jersey?
This is great news. I need to look at their prospect pool.
What if the Jets got: Hischer, 20OA, Subban (25% contract retained), Will Butcher, and the 2021 first round draft pick? |

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I think he just had a bad year. I will give him a pass. That does not dissuade my love for the guy!

“A distraction” is the Old Boys Club way of saying “is black, and has a personality”.
I’ll take PK for the name value, and the chaos.
A bounce back for him is unlikely, but possible.
At worst, he’s sheltered away from the top pairing and his cap hit prevents us from signing Pionk to a stupid contract. At best? He’s f*ckin PK Subban.
Hischier is the real prize here though. |

Nico Hischier is the most unrecognized and underrated first line center in the NHL.
I straight up almost bought both a Hischier (and a Nylander) jersey last year because hockey fans make no sense and annoy me |

Exactly. Subban is virtually untradable even at a huge discount.

Get a life Rexy, I couldn't care less that Subban is black, he's just a crappy hockey player that's paid too much and yeah PK's personality is a distraction as its all about PK.
Making my comment about race is pretty pathetic dude. |

What if New Jersey retained half his salary? At 4.5 he would be amazing! |

Still not worth it, he's not the player he once was and even in his best years he was pretty overrated. |

We would still retain the cap hit though for two years. Is that correct?
Not sure how the dressing room would play out if PK walked in to the room making $9 M- while the rest of the boys make considerably less? Maybe animosity?
Probably if we were to go out and play like an all-star, or close, it might be all right. But can that happen? |

What if there is a 3 way deal with another team that has cap space. NJ retain 25% and then the other retain 50% or reverse the numbers. Comes out to like 3.5m |

That is a low blow, low-life comment... even for hockeybuzz. Come out of you ivory tower and walk with the rest of us fans for a while.
I am intrigued by Subban and see him as a good person with (as you said) a big personality and not a distraction as in the Sean Avery sense, more in the Dion Phaneuf way. He is also aging (maturing), came off a couple rough transitional years both personally and professionally and could be a good fit as a RHD. Bitetto earned a spot as a bottom pair/7th D in part due to his character and Subban shares some of those qualities. playful attitude, work ethic, pride. Lindsay would love skiing at Sunshine
Hischier is the bread/butter prize of that proposed deal. |

Didn’t say you were making it about race.
You’re repeating a narrative. That narrative happens to be founded primarily on systemic racism. Same thing happened to Russian players for years, as well. |
