Savard would have to come with an extension.
Bjorkstrand and Ehlers played world juniors together are were dynamic!!!
I’d still ask for more!! Foudy at least, possibly even Anderson - Ross77
If you can get more, get more. As is, my deal is an overpay. You’re getting an improvement up front from the start, even if only for a year or two before Laine hits his top gear |

I don’t think they’d be willing to throw that many pieces at it. Maybe I’m just limited in my imagination, but that feels more busy than is feasible - Rexypoo
The thing is CBS is in cap hell and have to dump some salary, so that is partly the reason for all the pieces.
They nave but $7 million in cap room and have to resign PLD, Gavrikov and Josh Anderson. Now if they trade for Laine's contract as well, they really need to dump about $8-9M.
With Laine being the Jets most valuable chip available (I really wonder if he is), the Jets need at least two-three good pieces back (Texier and Foudy) and add on a couple of salary dumps and a draft choice and you might have a deal.
One of the dumps, if we want to call it that, would be Savard, a very steady RH d-man - but, alas, only signed for one more year. Buys the Jets some time.
Just my take. |

Would be fun to see how Patrik would react to John Tortorella! lol |

A 29 year old* top 4 dman we would be extending, an arguably elite RW, and a 1st round pick for Laine. Yes.
But you not bothering to google how old Savard is, or even reading the entire second half of the comment you replied to, is pretty well in line with your lack of research into Copp’s performance. Or understanding that not being at his peak does not make Subban an objectively bad player. Or that Lowry is actually pretty great on defence, and last season was a weird off-year.
But go off, I guess. - Rexypoo
Oh yeah cause being a month away from his 30th birthday totally makes a difference.. Lol
He'll be 31 when his next contract begins and will likely expect an increase on his $4.25M, sorry if I'm not excited about that as part of a return for Patrik effing Laine!!
I mean really in a discussion about trading a guy with Laine's ability I'm supposed to be pumped about Savard or Subban?? |

There is already plenty of animosity from players about salaries. His name is Mark Shiefele and he’s pissed about his contract and that multiple guys are making more than him. This is reality in every NHL locker room though and will never go away. It is what it is - Ross77
If this is indeed true about Scheifele then the Jets management has a huge problem, is he gonna be bitter and pouting for four more years, does he resent Connor making more then him?

That is a low blow, low-life comment... even for hockeybuzz. Come out of you ivory tower and walk with the rest of us fans for a while.
I am intrigued by Subban and see him as a good person with (as you said) a big personality and not a distraction as in the Sean Avery sense, more in the Dion Phaneuf way. He is also aging (maturing), came off a couple rough transitional years both personally and professionally and could be a good fit as a RHD. Bitetto earned a spot as a bottom pair/7th D in part due to his character and Subban shares some of those qualities. playful attitude, work ethic, pride. Lindsay would love skiing at Sunshine
Hischier is the bread/butter prize of that proposed deal. - 2.0
Lindsay would love to carve up Springhill!😀 |

Everything I’ve heard is he’s already been pouting for a while. Has gone from one of the organizations easiest player to manage to one of the hardest. The team blames Adam Oates influence on him. So I hear, could be all BS, I’m just passing on what I’ve heard from multiple sources. |

Who cares though, if he has an issue with his contract I’d remind him what Mackinnon ‘s is and tell him to suck it up and remind him how much better Mackinnon is.

I think you will pumped if the Jets win a Stanley Cup!
I can't stop thinking about getting a Heritage White Subban Jersey to go along with my Heritage Blue Connor jersey. |

I am more excited about the possibility of The Rock showing up to Jets games. He is my all time favourite wrestler/sports entertainer. It will totally get the barn rocking, which has been surprisingly quiet the last couple of years.

I think that if we focus on his strengths and remind him how much he is appreciated, he will react much better. As the old saying goes: you attract more bees with honey than vinegar. |

Better odds of winning a cup with Laine then with Subban, can't see any team with Subban on it winning a cup.
This teams fortunes turned around when Laine landed in their lap and now they think trading him will make them better, truly delusional thinking.

Nashville made the finals on his first year on the team. The next year they would have made the conference finals if not for the crappy goaltending of Rinne. |

It was Hischer to get excited about, 1st round pick and subban were equalizers

This
Line-up would be:
Connor-Scheifele-Ehlers
Harkins-Hischer--Wheeler
Appelton-Copp-Roslovic
Perreault-Lowry-Gustafsson
Morrisey-Subban
Sandberg-Pionk
Heinola-Niku
Hellebyuck
Anderson
I put Craig Anderson as our back-up because I think he would be a great back-up.

Correct take.

Wow your takes are just wild, is everything racism to you? Once again Rexy get a life, I just don't think Subban is very good and Laine is a better player, either guys skin color really doesn't matter to me as much as you want to believe it does. |

Anderson as a backup now??
Are you for real?? He's done and so is PK, time has caught up to these guys like it has Wheeler,
that tiny 3rd pair would get crushed, oh and if Subban was acquired that's where he's suited to play now, 3rd D pair, that's where Samberg should be as well. |

Once again, I never said you were racist. I never said skin colour mattered to you. I actually don’t think either of those things to be even slightly true. I have no issue with you.
You just happen to be drawing the same line in the sand that other people did before you with racist connotations. The only real difference between Subban and Bitetto on a personality level is exposure, and people love Bitetto
If you don’t want PK Subban because he’s not worth his price tag anymore, and you’re concerned about a continued decline? Cool. Understandable. I don’t really disagree, I’m just willing to take the risk for a huge win on a Laine deal. Just don’t say it’s because “he’s a distraction” when the only evidence we have for that are the talking heads that said Ovechkin would never win for the same reason. |

I don’t like a lot of this.
- 81-55-27 puts way too much defensive pressure on Ehlers.
- 58-13-26 has no shooter, and asks Hischier to push an entire line.
- I love line 3
- line 4 I love, but no with Gus on the wing
- Subban AND Morrissey get overexposed here
- you’re asking Samberg to cover Pionk right out of the gate
- Heinola and Niku together is not the best use of either.
My proposal of your proposal!
Connor-Scheifele-Copp - Balanced. Copp on D
Ehlers-Hischier-Roslovic - Balanced. Roslovic gets shot
Harkins-Lowry-Wheeler - Hides Wheeler. Grindy line with a new shooter in Harkins
Perrault-Gustafsson-Appleton - Support all around. Nobody can shoot, though. Trade Perrault, promote Vesalainen?
Morrissey-Niku - Balance
Heinola-Pionk - Proven
Samberg- Subban - Hides Subban, makes Samberg feel important |

does anyone like this,
trading with Ottawa at the draft. trading 10th OA to Ottawa for 28th, 33rd and one of Brown or Norris (both 20 or 21 year old centers ready to play NHL full time and both have 2nd line center potential or 3rd line center floor )
its a big drop down from 10 but there will be 2 very solid players there at 28 and 33 |

Or, do a deal with the Sabres, swap #1 centres and some other players to even out salary going each direction. Could you squeeze out Dahlen and Eichel for Scheifele and Laine, picks or other secondary players?
Pouty players are a drag on the team. |
