Don't know exact dates but it runs about 15 days . I don't know if they will piss around to see if he is okay to play . Last year at two different times he said he was good to go and lasted a week.
I think they will ask him if he is willing to go on permanent LTIR and if he says no they will buy him out and get the 2 mil savings every year. - VANTEL
But wasn't he injured at the end of the season? They can't deem him physically fit right now. Not until physicals at training camp. And as far as I know, a team can't buy out an injured player. |

He is not on LTIR now so they can buy him out I believe. His agent said a few days ago he is ready to go.

We'll see what happens but I'm skeptical that JB would be that cutthroat. Doesn't seem like his personality.
Moves will be made though so who knows. |

It is all business . He only spend about 4 weeks playing with the team. Hanging on ties up that money that he needs to use to go get his replacement. |

I wouldn't be opposed to the move. I just don't think JB does it. |

Best scenario is he goes on permanent LTIR . Get full value of Cap.
Benning did set up meeting with agent so it is on his radar.

I realize many of us are hoping for a buyout or 2, but, is it realistic during these uncertain times.
Buying out a player, then having to replace said player is just another cost added, so very little savings, if any.
Cap dumps might be the only solution to some of the cash strapped teams.
I know it's not my money, but just looking at it realistically, this situation the world is in, could be here for quite some time. |

When you have as many potential buyout candidates as Jim Benning does, it says a lot about how bad he is at judging pro talent. That said, I don’t see them buying anyone out as it’s a complete waste of the Aquilini family’s money.
Sven Baertschi maybe, his buyout is 1.6 million over two years, so 800K this upcoming season and 800K the season after that. It only saves you 800K in real salary paid out to him.

Is the Canucks cap guru as qualified as say Laurence Gilman? Times like this someone like that would come in handy.

I believe Chris Gear was hired, or promoted, this year to take on that role in hockey operations. He’s a very sharp guy. |

Gilman has done a good job in TO. Hopefully Gear can work some magic with the Canucks sh1tshow. |

From the Athletic's Harman Dayal on JV & TT
Ultimately, Virtanen’s future likely hinges in large part on what happens with Toffoli. The latter is Vancouver’s higher priority and if a deal is hammered out there, Virtanen’s future will be in serious limbo given the type of RFA leverage he carries, coupled with the club’s lack of cap room. |

I think talks with TT are going better than Markstrom.

Someone tried to move him yesterday. Didn't generate much interest. |

It's my understanding that the cap is not a problem. They will be compliant when the next season starts. |

Think that's the way it's going to be. After Demko's showing (and the flood of goalies on the market) I think JB realized he didn't have to cater to Marky. Won't surprise me to see him walk.
TT will get resigned, I think, something like $5 x 4.
Tanev will be interesting. I think they want him back for Hughes, but if they can swing a deal for Carlo or some equal young RHD, he'll be gone to Pitts. |

I thought TT was pretty much already signed? Just waiting for official announcement. |

If they got lucky to lose a couple of those bad deals at a fair price, things could get interesting.
