If they got lucky to lose a couple of those bad deals at a fair price, things could get interesting. - VanHockeyGuy
I think we'll see a lot more action after the playoffs end and before the draft – that small window is going to be intense. |

I believe Chris Gear was hired, or promoted, this year to take on that role in hockey operations. He’s a very sharp guy. - Pacificgem
He's also the lead for the MTA push. |

For the Canucks all depends where they are at with their UFAs. |

From EK on JV...
Bruins interested in Canucks Virtanen (e4)....
Per a source, then Bruins and Canucks are working on a deal to send Jake Virtanen to Boston...No word on return as of yet... |

Hard hitting investigative journalism.
JV + Rathbone/OJ + Gaudette for Carlo + DeBrusk |

Carlo would be a good addition.

A dman seems like the logical guess. Probably a Lauzon or Grzlecyk(sp?) type
I can’t see Carlo being moved for a package where a middle 6 winger is the main piece. |

Middle 6 winger would be 1 piece. |

I guess, but still seems like a weird trade if it’s Gaudette as the 2nd piece. If they’re really high on Rathbone then it makes a bit more sense. Or if they want Demko since Rask is only signed for 1 more year and turns 34 next year that makes the most sense. |

“My god, if the Rangers buy out Henrik Lundqvist like it looks like they're going to do, they're going to have $13 million in dead cap space for next season. Incredible.”

Boston seems like a fit but I'm sure JB's doing his due diligence. Young RH D.

I'd think my package words above, or close enough to for this site. With Chara and Krug probably leaving, they're weak on the left side. Getting a good, young, puck moving defenseman to replace Krug is ideal. Canucks have two of those in Rathbone and OJ, which is going to be hard to slot both them in with the Canucks having QH being the same type of defenseman.
Add in JV and Gaudette and the old Bruins are getting younger-ish. |

Winning lotto picks is huge skill. Making failed trade up in drafts for players who want out and signing high priced UFA is all Teflon.

No idea, I don’t follow them enough to know, but I do know he's done a great job acquiring draft picks since they decided to re-build that team in 2018. |

Like Vantel said, NJ & OTT could help us out with players/picks/salary dumps, I'm sure they have no shortage of suiters.

People have just been jumping on his di ck here about how to rebuild a team properly, but he's facing some real poope problems as well. |

Demko, Gaudette and Rathbone and played college hockey near Boston so their scouts must be familiar with all 3 |

Greetings,
It took till Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final before someone scored more goals than Bo Horvat. Pretty impressive stuff from the Canucks' captain.
A look at the Stanley Cup Final in that context, and some thoughts on the impending buyout window, in the new blog:

I don’t know what problems they’re currently facing but buying out Lundqvist seems like a really bad idea? |
