Sanheim(who was taken with that puck) needs to start working out with Provy. Kid is charmin ultra soft.
- hereticpride
Can we stop with the narratives? The kid is is not soft. You don't get to the NHL and play the minutes he has played to this point as a defenseman if you're "charmin ultra soft".

NO Hextall turns them down; wasn’t too much. Hextall sucked as gm at the nhl level - login
So let’s even say simmonds at the time. Simmer two first and sanhiem. I think was the ask back ( schenn not sim but still. You do that? Just curious. I wouldn’t. Too much for one player with a few exceptions. |

Stamkos is almost an effective 4th liner as Nate Thompson. |

Also I want to say Hextall was rumored to have offered Schenn and the 1st for Ekblad but Florida asked for Simmons and a 1st and Hextall said no. This was coming off the season where I believe Simmons lead the league in PP goals so the value was fair imo. - hereticpride
I wouldn't say he's charmin ultra soft. Did you see how much energy that monster Gerbe had to exert tossing Sanheim around? |

It wasn’t Simmonds, 2 first and Sanheim. Sanheim wasn’t even on the team
Simmonds 1st was main pieces- maybe another small add |

Here is one rumor I found:
https://www.nj.com/flyers..._and_eric_gudbranson.html
George Richards, a Panthers beat writer for the Miami Herald, tweeted late Friday afternoon that the Flyers have made some of their top players available for this potential blockbuster: right wing Wayne Simmonds, left wing Matt Read, center Brayden Schenn, defenseman Luke Schenn and center Vincent Lecavalier.

I seem to recall Simmonds, 1st (used to pick Sanheim later in the draft), and a 2nd or 3rd. |

I always thought it was Simmonds and Schenn and pick. I vaguly remember they were ok with a 1st and Schenn but Florida wanted both players and Flyers tried to put Read in the deal instead of Simmonds.
Could be wrong.

Maybe I’m thinking of the Shea Weber trade talks before offersheet match and combining it with this trade lol |

The Shea Weber trade was, I believe, Couturier + Schenn + a 1st. The Flyers said pick one of the two players and Nashville demanded both.
As much as I did and still do love Shea Weber, having Nashvillw match and the Flyers refuse the trade was one of the best non-moves in team history. |

For sure, and I was so let down when they matched it at the last hour. But looking back and looking at our team now, glad they matched. |

Speaking of awesome defensemen, there is no doubt in my mind that Victor Hedman is the best defenseman in hockey. He may not lead the league in goals/points as a defenseman, but overall, he stands alone at the top (IMO). |

No question. The guy is a friggin machine. Totally controls the play when he's on the ice. Fun watching him. Wonder if Provy can ever be that good. |

As for Clarke, I won’t take issue with comments regarding him as a GM. As a player... I’mguessing that I witnessed 90% of his games. He never took off a minute let alone a shift. He brought it every game and his teammates knew it. Don’t think there was a player in any sport who did more with relatively limited god given gifts. And those of us who were there will never forget the over time goal in game 3 of the SCF. If you didn’t see this guy play consider yourself cheated. Also, you’re probably young and that makes up for it. - Gogol

Provy will never have his size/strength. Not that he can't be that good, but it's one element you can't teach. |

Time will tell. With Provy's work ethic, it wouldn't surprise me to find that he's set his sights on Hedman-like capabilities. |
