Byfuglien and Montreal?
Told by a source that the Canadiens have been working Dustin Byfuglien to see if he could return for some time now. They aren't the only team (as reported by Andy Strickland) but of the teams I've spoken to, Montreal feels they may be closer than anyone else to getting it done. Sabres, Panthers, and Penguins are also possibilities....I will be adding Byfuglien to the rumor chart when I do my full update this afternoon...(It just feels empty without him on the chart....)

Man...Stamkos is a hell of a player when healthy. He has 4 years remaining on his contract at a 8.5M$ cap hit

His injury worries me though...and the Habs would be helping the Lightning get out of salary cap hell.

only way this would be a logical trade is if you were completely certain Stamkos will be back 100% healthy with no repercussions for the future, but that certainty is rather frail right now

Maybe if you switched Caufield for someone else.

Right now it's just too much despite how good Stamkos is.... if he remains injured it would all be a waste.
