Nice deal. I knew he would have a raise but I didn’t thought it would be that low.

Guy is not the best defensively but he does support the offense, he’s big and can check.

40pts+ Last 3 seasons.
10+goals last 3 seasons.

Good vet.
He never had any good LD to play with. Hopefully Edmundson brings what he needs.

Ever since he had to replace Weber 3 seasons ago. Petry has taken his game to another level.

Really happy he sticks around for the next 5 seasons.

Great signing... Petry must have really wanted to stay, nothing wrong with that, glad to keep him at that price 👍

It's an absolute home run of a deal for Bergy, perfect term for what I believe is less than market value in dollars

Maybe he wants to get some more deals done to see how the long-term outlook for the team is, wrt the cap.

Could a Gallagher and Danault deal be far behind?

With this surprise signing. My bet is another guy will be signed in Domi / Danault / Tatar / Gallagher

Sounds like he's gonna sign the guys he can to move forward so he knows how to handle his assets going into next season.

But don't be fooled.

Tatar won't get a new contract and if the Habs are in the playoffs pictures, he'll be lost for nothing.

Gallagher is most likely his next priority.

Keeping Petry around sends a good message to him too.

Hard deal not to like. I also like how early they got it done. Really helps planning the future out with cost and term certainty

Petry deserves a ton of credit... says a lot about his dedication to the organization, easily could have got at least an extra year or 2 next off season at probably close to a million more somewhere with way less taxes and nicer weather! And he should get Byron's A!
