Why would they sign him now? Now they have to protect him for the expansion draft. If they just waited until next summer they could have had more options in protecting other players etc. Weird move by MTL

I see Boston as trying to get better, not do a lateral move. They don't really have much depth on the right side of defence. Lauzon and Vaakahiennenanehan seem to be their best LHD ready to make the jump.

I could see something like Sean Kuraly + (3rd) for Virtanen.

Nope, I understand certain posters on here only want players that put up points and don't see the value of a very solid big defensive defenseman.
Also, not many teams have RHD depth.
Not sure who else on here would like to see Carlo with Canucks, but, VHG and I have definitely been the most vocal about wanting him here.
