Sens now 22 Mil below the floor of the Cap. 43 Mil in Cap space . Expect some big moves by them . They will probably be getting a lot of high draft picks or solid prospects. - VANTEL
they mightve created too much cap space to be predatory for bad contracts lol. it would be very funny to me if teams started playing hardball with them because they need to find $20m+ in cap dollars without spending that in cash

That is an excellent point. Everyone expects huge buyouts and things but if you stand pat teams like that are screwed.
I thought SJ would have a buyout or so they announced today they are standing pat.

the only way they can eat cap space without spending cash is through trades. every rfa they have and bought out player requires spending the real money. if ericksons signing bonus has been paid he should be the top target for melnyk. $5m he wouldnt have to spend this year and he could buy out loui next year and save more

If you look at Cap Friendly at first glance you see 14 mil 17 players signed . If you look closely then you notice Eriksson Sven and Rathbone are part of the 17 signed and they will probably come off that list and be replaced by Zack OJ and Motte. I am not talking trading Sven or Loui just sending them down.
I think Jake is done here and if by some chance they do sign Gauds it will be for a little more than a mil or he will be traded. He does not have Arb rights.
I think they will sign Toffoli at 5 mil and the rest will be figured out one way or another.
I still think the team has issues but they are slowly getting away from the old thinking. I did see more team toughness this year but still needs to be improved a lot more. When Tyler Motte is your hits leader then you need to rethink things.
I would have hated it here if I was Guddy . Expected to fight everyone's battles.
Same with team D and shots against, the forwards have got to help out a lot more. I think this year is a chance to change two bottom 6 players and that would be a good start . I would start by a new 3C and I would not mind Kyle Cifford for fourth line duties. - VANTEL
If Guddy was good at hockey then people wouldn’t have been on his case for not fighting/hitting more. But if you’re not a good player then people at least want some hits/fights.
I’m glad the days of Sbisa/Guds are long gone lol. I’d rather acquire guys like Josh Anderson who can be effective as players and provide toughness.
I agree that a team mentality is what matters, I don’t think this team has a soft mentality though, they just lack the size to really push anyone around. All 3 series were physical and the Canucks never looked intimidated.

Agree. Tryamkin is a good size cure regardless of the stupid labels he can play well enough. OJ is getting bigger too so he's an upgrade on Fatty.

Count me in as a Tryamkin fan. He plays well enough to play a bottom 6 role. I could see him making a difference in a playoff serious just by being physical enough to possibly take out a player or two (not on purpose) but just from his size.
The one benefit of the NHL season possibly starting in January is that Tryamkin and Podkolzin could potentially be available to sign mid-season as both of them could be done by Late February as that's when the regular season ends for the KHL. If their teams make the playoffs then they probably won't be available to sign until mid March.
No one you probably know. Just a poster reminding everyone how excited this city was back when Loui was first signed. I even remember watching a preseason game when Loui scored playing with the Twins and the announcer said Well Vancouver get exited , get very excited , you will be seeing a lot of this.

that's amazing. i love those "this has aged well" tweets
Carlo, or a young RHD with some size. A nasty disposition is okay as well. - VanHockeyGuy
I have seen Carlo, Cerelli and Cernak on here today. My only question is: why would either team give up such a talented young guy?! Chara is probably retiring. Cirelli is probably the best defensive center noone knows about, kinda like Couturier 3-4 years ago and with the same upside. I get these teams need to make moves but why on earth would it be any of these guys!?
I was surprised to see Debrusk was mentioned in some rumor. I would love that move if it happened.
Hasn't ended. I did come in one day about two weeks ago though. First time since Mid March. Maybe if JB gets some draft picks i'll come back otherwise. Whenever the next season starts to tell Marwood to go (frank) himself, after he comes up with another stupid prediction that isn't going to remotely come true.
I was hoping for a more productive day from the GM's to be honest. The news dwindled pretty quickly.
