Ferland is worth considering as a buyout candidate, if he won’t accept permanent LTIR.
LE and SB should be in Utica (assuming there is an AHL)....or on their way to play for the Senators. - SlightlyOffside

I had heard a few days ago same time of Bettmans state of the union asking what happens if no AHL next year.
I think someone mentioned extended rosters but I have no idea of how that would happen. - VANTEL
I think this would be a fantastic year to try out Toews schedule thought.
Limiting travel and without travel more back to back games can be done. |

Is the guy is dumb enough to come and get his bell rung again. Take your money and sit at home Ferland. |

The players barely have enough energy for back to back games let alone playing two in a day. Christ, Only beer leagues tournaments and kids u14 play double headers.

His agent has apparently represented him as “feeling well” and also that he is fit to play. Not sure that he has claimed that himself.
Is there any possibility that his contract was uninsured, or that it excluded concussions? |

I'm pretty sure it's not possible to not have an uninsured NHL contract. His agent has said 3 times that he's been feeling well and it's never lasted more than a couple games.
I really can't imagine why he would want to even try anymore. |

Several sources indicated that Ferland’s contract is not insured, but the Canucks declined to comment, citing privacy.
There is a league wide insurance provider, which covers a certain number of contracts per team. Generally the insurer says yes, unless the player has serious pre-existing conditions, which could mean the insurer will decline to cover only some or possibly none of the contract.
Insurance claims can only be made at the end of the season.

Hasn't ended. I did come in one day about two weeks ago though. First time since Mid March. Maybe if JB gets some draft picks i'll come back otherwise. Whenever the next season starts to tell Marwood to go (frank) himself, after he comes up with another stupid prediction that isn't going to remotely come true.
I was hoping for a more productive day from the GM's to be honest. The news dwindled pretty quickly. - manvanfan
If you’ve been on this board for more than six months wothout telling Driftwood to (frank) off, you must be a saint.

I think if Canucks declared him unfit to play can they shut him down? He got concused by the wind last time. That can't be a good sign.

Only a doctor can declare him unfit. I don't think there are any requirements for medicals in the off season. Also, we're dealing with concussions so it's up to him to declare the symptoms, if any, and their severity.
He'll wait until at least training camp to decide (unless something in the interim happens) I would imagine.
The Canucks can't force him to do anything. All they can do is buy him out (though I'm still unsure about buyouts concerning injured but not LTIR players), trade him or put him in the minors if he's adamant about playing if they don't want him. |

The dude has a family, it’s insane to me that he might try to play again. But hey, it’s his choice. I just don’t see him lasting a couple of games unless he changes his play style to Loui Eriksson’s |

Sounds about right. ZMac is who I’d rather have over a slow, less physical, more expensive bottom 6’er. I’ll take guys like him and Motte. I just hope the Motte contract isn’t something stupid, he should be relatively cheap. |

I am thinking 1.5

The only reports he gave the media about his symptoms is its like being drunk. That effect is at doing things at high speed. He never said his normal daily life was effected. You know the darkrooms with splitting headache issues were never reported. So maybe he thinks he needs more time with the inner ear rewiring. Or he doesn't want to get bought out to lose money since it seems the Canucks would have to pay him with no coverage. Not sure where this goes but this is the most intriguing cap resolve the Canucks have to clear. |

Guess what BB is not being moved and his value is increasing more with his well rounded game improvement and other new tools instead of being a one trick pony. |

Maybe unpopular opinion but i'm not interested in buying out anyone this season.
I would trade Gaudette to get rid of Eriksson's contract for a reasonable price.
Package Roussel and Virtanen together for picks/prospects with cheap consistent 4th liners
I want the full 11.3M for next season from Baertschi, Sutter, Pearson to come off the books, to sign Petey.
Marky, Tanev, Toffoli should not come in over 5M unless it's for 2 years or less.
JB should be setting this team up for 2 years from now not this coming season. - manvanfan
This is an interesting idea. I ws just reading Rob the Hockey Guys 6 rookies that could make the team. OJ Lind Zack Rathbone Hog and Pod. Would fans be willing to accept the results.
I like the idea of trading Jake for a draft pick or a decent prospect. Would you be willing to go the year with Zack on fourth line full time or Brogan Rafferty as a number 6 ?
