Hope it gets done soon. - VanHockeyGuy
Wouldn't signing Toffoli mean you need to go shopping for a LW? Having Toff and Boeser in the top 6 means you need a playmaker on Bo's left, not Pearson? |

Does Boston have any cap room?
They should package a later pick with Jake and add one our boat anchors for cap relief. - Shuswap Wap
Boston has 14 mil and need to sign Krug Chara Debrusk and Grzelcyk

Didn't it come out that they offered him term(5 or 6 years) as long as there wasn't a NMC? Then he asked for more money in exchange and that's why it's gone nowhere. - NorthNuck
Nothing official . They would be nuts offering more than 4 and I even think that is too long. I have already conceded he will be playing somewhere else

Of course it would be, if you’re not getting much in terms of cap savings from a buyout the only other reason you pay out someone 2/3’rds of their actual remaining salary dollars is to save paying out 1/3. |

Rumored Boston is interested in him, could be part of a package for a RHD. - NewYorkNuck
They need to start finding centres... Bergeron and Krejci are 34 and 33 respectively. I can see why they would be interested in Gaudette

Markstrom will get 6x5 on the open market, Benning can’t do that, nor should he, thus the stalemate. |

Keep in mind every player has a 20 % escrow hit and a 10 % whatever it is called this year and a 20% next year .
A guy like Sutter's actual salary this year is 3.5 mil not 4.35 . Remove 30% of that it is 2.2 mil that they will pay in actual dollars for Sutter to complete his contract . If you buy him out the actual dollars his actual buyout cost this year and next is 1.166 mil each year totaling 2.3 mil instead of 2.2 in actual salary.
Baertschi's actual salary is 2.4 mil this year less 30% totaling 1.6 mil in actual money buyout you pay 1.6 mil and cap hit over two years is 2.566.

Canucks need money for next summer for Pettersson and Hughes. No point in buying out Sutter or Bearcheese as you'll just be eating into your cap space for next year. Best to just live with the contracts this year or find a team that will trade for them and retain some money to make it work. |

Yeah, I mean he's earned the cash, it just doesn't make sense for Van. Would still be sad to see him go just as he's really hitting his stride as a starter though. |

No sense buying out either one and having it carry over two years |

Escrow has nothing to do with buyouts, the team stills pays the money the player puts in escrow.
Buying out Sutter saves the owner around a million bucks. Full stop. It saves the team 2.2 million in cap next year and it cost 1.1 the following year.
Buying out Sutter would save both the owner and the team real money and cap money.
Buying out Baertschi saves Aquilini 800K in actual dollar but only saves around 600K in cap space next year but costs you 800K the following year. So essentially it doesn’t help much except save Aquilini some cold hard cash. Which what I said in the first place. |

Just a reminder that the last two Canuck players to join the team immediately after having been in the Boston organization were Tim Schaller and Louie Ericksson.

Dubnyk had an off year last year, but previous years had good stats. How about a 3way deal?
Van: Carlo, Dubnyk
Wild:Baerschi 1m retained
Boston: Virtanen, Wild 2020 2nd. |

How are the Marky contract talks going?
There are too many other good goalies so why would you want to lock into 6 mil a year long term for Markstrom?
I also doubt Tanev is coming back unless he signs for about 3 mil? Lots of players will be looking for new contracts this year - VANTEL
Heard Tanev is being courted by PIT for a five year deal...
Markstrom it's ok if he goes I personally think his Groin is going to be an ongoing issue. Maybe. |

Dubnyk is done, if you can’t look decent playing behind Suter/Brodin/Dumba/Spurgeon then imagine the poop show here |

It is rare for a good goalie to drop off a cliff entirely from one season to the next like he did. Unless injuries are the cause, it could also just be the poopshow that was the Wild for a good chunk of last season. He could be a decent enough back-up for Demko. |

How can Escrow have nothing to do with it?
If Sutter base salary is 3.5 and Canucks only need to pay him 70 % of that it means Canucks need to pay him this year only 2.2 mil to play this year in real money plus his 1 mil bonus. That million bonus was suppose to have been paid July 1 . That is pretty straight forward . So we agree Canucks still owe Sutter 2.2 this upcoming year.
Buyout costs 1.166 this year and 1.166 next year totaling 2.332 in real buyout dollars. |
