Rangers down to 4 signed defensemen, two on ELC'S plus one RFA. Looks like they need some veteran blue line help. Murphy or deHaan or Maata as part of a package for Buchnevich?

There is an outlet to gain another 1st rounder but what would the price be from Chicago and would you do it?

@PuckReportNHL

Elliotte Friedman says the New Jersey Devils have made it known that if a team can offer a good young player (26 or under) with some term or team control, they’d be willing to trade one of the 18th or 20th overall picks.

They would have four right hander defenders...

The odd man out if the do sign ex-Blue Pietrangelo may be Trouba them asking Trouba to play on the left side (what he was pissed about with the Jets) if they plan on playing Adam Fox in the top two pairings.

Anthony Deangelo is RH third pair defender...and LD Brendan smith is stretch as a 2nd pair guy.

So they need an upgrade, unless K'Andre Miller and/or Libor Hájek are their new graduates...

If Pietrangelo signed by the Rangers, then Trouba to the Leafs for Willie Nylander? Hope I'm not giving Ek any ideas for his next blog.

Edit - LD Maata + or deHaan to the Rangers for Buchnevich.?

Trouba I thought signed with the Rangers because of his wife’s career, and he has a NMC

Been watching Sean Connery as 007 in Goldfinger. Thunderball up next. .And also too busy working on trade scenarios. I've traded Saad, Delia, Koekkoek, Nylander and Maatta/deHaan already today Got back two1st's, Korpusali, Killorn and Buchnevich.

Or instead of Pietrangelo, maybe NYR freeing up cap space for Krug? That thought courtesy of the Rangers blogger.

Strome and Murphy fit the bill but would it be worth it to obtain Laine maybe other assets in return?

Don't know if I would do it. We need a Murphy more than a Laine.

@PuckReportNHL

Friedman says we’re seeing a lot of Patrik Laine rumors because the Winnipeg Jets feel that maybe the best way to solve the issue is if trading him can get them a 2C and a RHD and solve their other roster problems. #GoJetsGo

I was highly criticized when I suggested that Perry would have been a good cheap pickup for the Hawks last off season. Plays physical, on an edge, nasty, big, goes to the net, wins board battles, etc.

Just end the season please. And don't give Dallas a game seven. Oh to have two offensive blueliner guys like Klingman and Heiskanen + two big size in Lindell and Oleksiak who are not slow but actually have good overall game.. Try to frame our future defense like that. Would need someone like Moberg and Rogula (?) to be the large size players. Carlsson is maybe the guy if Rogula does not use his size to be mean.

We can get a very good idea if we can frame a defense like that after one more season of development with all the kids. Wr should get some flashes of what could be. By year three we might have a defense to really like if all goes well with kids development.

But Mutphy and maybe Keith won't last here into a third season. Keith would slow down and would need a steady partner. Murphy next contract would be too much at his age and spot if a third pair on defense. And his skating would be poor compared to others on our blueline.

Some including wiz have recently mentioned how skating is over rated. That slower guys compensate with smarts, good stick, etc al. Sure that is a valid point. But hockey is a game of turnovers and taking advantage of your strengths does matter. The better skaters can make some plays and win more battles to the puck. So when you have an entire line up outskating your opponent, you have an advantage.

Maybe Debrinkat and Nylander for one of the picks or to put it another way, Jokijarju and Dinky for a mid to late #1...
