6 players in the nhl have scored more than Laine since he joined the league, 6, that’s it. He’s a 22 year old beast stil growing into his frame, his 200’ foot game took huge strides last year.
Sam F’in Reinhardt and spare parts won’t get it done - Ross77
Then keep him, and pay him at least $9M per long term.
Roslovic has the underlying numbers that say he *could* be a 2nd line winger.
It’s worth the risk.
It’s not his fault he’s on a team with Wheeler, Laine, Ehlers and Conner where he’s not going to see top 6 minutes - sbroads24
Can we not get a top6 winger for Montour though?
I’d rather trade for a guy i know about,
then risk it on Roslovic
What exactly do u like about his game?
Just seems like an average player to me

There's also the difference in cap hit between Roslovic and Montour, but I'm curious what underlying numbers indicate Roslovic could be a 2nd line winger.

Hamilton: Evaluating the impact of the Sabres' self-imposed budget
General Manager Kevyn Adams reportedly has a spending limit of $70-75 million.
“From everything I’m hearing, I think his budget will put the team at between $70 million and $75 million in actual cash spent.”
Nothing earth shattering here. Just reinforcing a “lean” model in actual dollars spent on players. So not necessarily taking into account the overages or ehroff money that counts against the cap but not in dollars out. Or as some have found, players with the higher cap hit but lower dollars out.
We will have a really good idea of this roster in under two weeks....

Hockey in wny in general has been destroyed by the Sabres.
I think the 10 people at the world juniors last year would agree - Boss34
This is rather alarming, or at least should be alarming to the pegulas. A STH with many Seats admitting the Sabres are destroying the fans enthusiasm in hockey.
Good job Kerry and Tim!

We all signed up for the tank sooooooooooo.... - GERBE!!!75PTS
no one signed up for anything save for pegula and his front office...we had no say in the matter...
in addition, it's one thing to accept their decision but it's another to openly and vociferously root for the team to lose...the season was a farce with the arizona home game being the most embarrassing moment in buffalo sports history

His goals/60 and primary assists/60 are pretty solid 5 on 5.
If he had the benefit of more ice time/ more PP time I think he’s a 40-50 point winger

No real new News here, but clarification on the cash aspect, which had already been discussed here and identified as the key, not the Cap number. Hammy a bit late.
The Okposo contract has now turned into an albatross in both Cap and Cash. When the contract with him was offered and signed, it had an implied expectation of production...of say 45 - 55 pts.
The injury is very unfortunate and no one would wish that on anyone. I admire him for his perserverence and long journey back to play.
That said, his 25 points isn't cutting it for that $6m contract value.
A Buyout doesn't provide enough savings Cap-wise for the next 2 years.
I believe if I understand the CBA properly, a Recapture Penalty of $4m would be spread over the final 3 years remaining if he Retired. That would be a Cap Hit of $1.33m per season for 3 years...a significant savings of $4.67m per year.
Adam's needs to have a tough love talk with him about the benefits of managing the Hockey Academy at say $4m per year for 3 years.
