Im not sure if you can completely obsolve the player from the expectations he set and hasnt lived up too (yet)?
I love dahlin, I have a dahlin shirtzee .
Did you personally think he would score more than 4 goals in year 2?
He's just a kid. And will probably explode on the scene next year.
But, 4 goals was below my expectations - Boss34
Well what are his comparison players?
People were calling him the next Nick Lidstrom, yes?
Lidstrom had 3 more goals in 25 more games in his second season, and he was 22, not 19. I think his career turned out OK.

Trading/losing good players always works. Briere/Drury/Hasek/ROR
Hell, we got Tyler Ennis for Brian Campbell. Brilliant. Miller got us Chris Stewart and Zemgus(?)
Jesus christ, at some point the Buffalo Sabres and their fans will figure out that you should keep good players and try to (frank)ing win. - jcragcrumple
Elliotte Friedman on SN960 on if he thinks Eichel gets moved before next season "No I don't, and the main reason I think he's not going to get moved is because they've already paid him a $7.5M bonus... His salary this year is $2.5M. It makes no sense for Buffalo to do that."
"Like why would you trade him if you've already paid him 75% of his salary? And I think that's what Buffalo has told teams. That there's no point in us doing that right now, we've already invested this much in him... But I think that this is a story to watch"
"They went out and got Eric Staal. That made them a better team. But if this year doesn't go Buffalo's way, then I think it's going to be one to watch. Like I heard some of the teams that reached out to them never even got into offers cause it never even got that far"
"But I think Buffalo knows now, who's interested, and who's serious? And I think that this is all ground work for the future in case they have to revisit it. But Buffalo did indicate y'know '7.5M paid, why would we do that?' It doesn't make any sense for them"
It's pretty sad that the MAIN reason he won't get traded before next year is the bonus and not that he is a great hockey player that they want to keep. But perhaps it's becauseJack wants out. It takes two to tango even though the Sabres have the leverage with the contract. |

In regards to the dumb conversation, that I was having with other posters?
Just me though, the thread is littered with trade talks involving eichel.
Sabres havent "won" too many trades since darcy left.
Wilson for warner for Drury - Boss34
Fair enough. I inserted myself into the conversation.
I will add a final "horrible, terrible, very bad idea" and leave you to the conversation |

Any qbs in Denver throwing for 4,000 yards (combined) this season .
Hey if the Broncos run the ball well and play good defense, they might win 2 games - Boss34
What does this have anything to do with Allen, you attack Pegs because he adds a little common sense to the conversation. |

I'd prefer the first deal, get an excellent center in Mika, Lafreniere and a defenseman.
I think it's imperative a center comes back in the deal and not just any center. - Leninthebuff
Fox is more than just a defenseman. He deserved Norris consideration this past season, as he was that good. |

Dahlin accomplished a heck of a lot more in his first 2 seasons then Allen did.
Allen has made several improvements in year 3.
Dahlin will too.
Dahlin broke several records for a teenage d-man.
Allen ranked 32/32 out of QB’s in every accuracy statistic and failed to put a Houston Texans team away while Bill O’Brian coached quite possibly the worst possible game I’ve ever seen and still managed to win.
Allen had as much to do with the success of that Bills team last year as Blake Bortles did when the Jags went to the AFC championship game in 2017.
Yet Dahlin stinks because we couldn’t make the playoffs ?
You’re logic is fundamentally flawed.
I’m not going to dispute what I have seen from
Allen these first three weeks as he has been playing very well, the only similarity between Josh this year and years past is still has the same name. Completely different QB. - Pegullaville
Qb Accuracy statistics and defenseman assists are part of the players games. Not of of their game.
Rushing tds and goals are other aspects of a players overall makeup. Respectively. |

How many teenage defenseman had 4 goals in a season in the last 40 years?
Just like allen can run, dahlin can pass the puck
Allen now is an above average thrower, when will dahlin be an above average goal scorer?
He scored 4 goals and we came in 25th place
Allen played well , Bill's won 10 games kid.
Winning is the most important thing still right?
Or is that when its convenient? - Boss34

I’m not ready to extrapolate an entire season’s worth of stats based off 2 games vs bad teams,
and a good half against what I’d consider a middle of the road team
4,000yds doesn’t mean sh!t anymore either
Over half the league does that I’d guess
Allen has looked good so far this season
Emphasis on “so far”
I wanna see him play this way the rest of the season
And i wanna see him beat good teams
Don’t see anything wrong with that - jdfitz77
If you take the fact that he threw his 3rd TD pass with 6 and a half minutes left in Q3 and the last drive started with about 4-4.5 to go, it was one quarter of bad football, not a half. |

Mika would be great. I'd still take Byfield with 1st, then pray that Holtz falls in their lap.
Skinner - Mika Z - Rhino
Olofsson - Staal - Anderson
Kahun - Cozens - Smith
Next season,
Cozens moves up
Byfield replaces Cozens at C3
Holtz joins the team
Sam traded
Skinner - Mika Z - Anderson
Olofsson- Cozens - Holtz
Kahun - Byfield - Smith
Then watch out... - IonSabres
That’s a tough one. Laf is pretty far ahead of Byfield. Like Ovechkin good. He was over two points a game last year. I know Byfield was close, but Laf has done it for a longer time |

Ray Bourque played in an era where the goalies weren't all 6'4" and didn't wear pads like linebackers.
Heiskanen, Hughes, Makar. Look at their supporting casts. It does make a huge difference.
How many years did it take for Hedman to figure it out?
Dahlin is who he is. He'll figure it out, too. |

And I agree with your posts. You've been killing it in regards to the Bill's posts. (Seriously)
Its dumb to trade a talent as great as eichel.
The return will never be enough.
If he wants out, what do you do? Seriously wants out, like make a big stink out?
Why would he want to stay?

Raanta makes sense from a quality standpoint and contract standpoint, as he only has 1 year left on his deal and even though his cap hit is $4.25M, his actual salary is only $2M as Arizona paid his $2M bonus. - kingcong39

That's why we need dahkin to score goals.

And DEFENSEmen don’t have to score goals to be excellent players |

He just did this 24 hours ago against a 2-0 team that was in the Super Bowl two years ago.
And again, 4,000 flat would be a pretty big dive.
He’s been flat out incredible so far. And I’m not sure the Dolphins are “bad” this season. They played NE tight, almost beat us, and killed Jacksonville - sbroads24
Rams were 9-7 last year
I don’t consider that “good”
Let’s just see what the rest of the season brings
I see no reason to make any declarations at all after ONLY 3 games |

Once Von Miller went down I said the Broncos would be lucky to go 9-7.
Then Lock, Sutton, Lindsay, Bouye, Casey, all sustained long term injuries and Ja’Quan James opted out.
Take your starting QB, #1 DB, RT, two pro bowl pass rushers, pro bowl RB, and Pro bowl WR off your team and we’ll see how the Bills do.
I also said with average QB play last year the Broncos had a chance to go 9-7 and they went 7-9 with Flacco and Allen being far from average and Lock only playing 6 games.
You make fun of my philosophy yet the Bills followed it to a tee last year. Titans and 49ers also. All three had success. |

But it makes sense, if ROR was paid the 7.5M bonus would he have been traded? It was a rush deal to not pay that 7.5M and the Sabres got butt franked for it

Ok there fella, what jabs has he taken at the Bill's, cause he pointed out that Allen’s numbers were not so good the first couple years, that are defense played pretty good the last couple years. Constructive Criticism, pretty much everything he said was right, even given Allen props for how well he's played this year. |
