I have loved Point since I saw him play in person early 2017. He was fabulous this season and better in the PO's; it was ery, very noticeable when he couldn't play...more than Stamkos being out.
For all the credit I give him, Hedman was the best player throughout the playoffs and especially in the Finals...he was absolutely dominant. - IonSabres
It was closest Conn Smythe vote ever apparently.

Yes and no. I do believe the season will permanently shift. I don't think it will go as far as the end of September though. |

It would definitely be a Buffalo thing for him to be there at 8 and us not take him right ?
I won’t breathe easily until I see them announce the pick.
I’ll take any of the forwards at this point 🤷🏻♂️
He had Lundell at 18 which I thought was ludicrous as well. |

They were both deserving, and Vasi played great, especially when he had to.
I 'd still go with Hedman.
The much maligned trades for Goodrow and Coleman were huge...that line with Gourde played a high tempo, in-your-face, tenacious style that set the tone for games over and over again...was happy to see Coleman score in game 7...very fitting.
All Fampa fans would make those trades again and again as much as BrisBois was ridiculed for them.
The cost was high, the benefit was unrivalled. |

Agreed.
Players and Management want their Aughst cabin time. Ends in July at the latest...maybe mid-July.
Start in mid Nov..play slightly condensed schedule. |

This cup win was 6+ years in the making.
The Lightning have been a cup contender for a while.
Especially given the contract squeeze this offseason those trades made a lot of sense at the time and I mean considering they just won the cup it makes even more sense now. |

You are talking about after the next season is over, correct?
It looks like this upcoming season will likely start either on new year's day or a few days prior to it, which would mean the playoffs would end sometime in September, unless they play a condensed schedule, which I have not heard of or read yet.
That would give the players 2 months off to begin playing games again in early December. |

that's some solid drafting.. name 2 players outside of the 1st round that buffalo has drafted and is on the team that is making an impact like Kuch, cirelli, point, Palat, gourde... |

Only ones that really applies I guess are Ullmark and Olofsson, and they are just really secondary players |

ive played this game a few times. we lose, every time.
you'll need to go back to the start of the millennium to see effective drafting from Buffalo. Coincidentally, you'll see them in the ECF in 06 and 07. Huh. |

Tampa went 7/15 on the PP the last 5 games.
That’s a 47% clip approximately.
Special teams won TBL a cup.
True story. |

Tampa had incredible luck let’s be honest.
However, they drafted well, signed those players to very good contracts, and then made several trades to supplement those players.
Only free agents they brought in for the most part are of the bargain bin variety.
Draft well, get those players Locked in at as favourable rate as possible, make trades for good players with term control, and don’t splooge in FA and crater your cap with over the hill players and pay them for past performance |

Yeah, almost like we should have signed Sam for 5x5 when it was rumored, or VO now for something like 4x5. You have to bet on some of those guys to be mid range and carry about their hit. Tried with Risto, obviously didn't work. But just because one failed doesn't mean it's a flawed concept. |

Luck and the good fortune of having your home games played in a state with no state tax certainly helps quite a bit. |

Just to clarify what I meant by luck was more or less getting Point, Cirelli, and Kucherov past the first round.
I do agree completely tho if they have a distinct advantage over other teams due to the state tax as well.
