Do you look yourself in the mirror every morning and just say to yourself "I'm going to believe my own bullpoop"
There's talking out your ass again.
There's only two players since 2014 that are actually contributing to the Lightning that have been drafted by them. Cirelli and Point.
Taken them 12 years since getting a 1st overall pick to win a Stanley Cup.
Tampa Bay has been extremely lucky. - manvanfan
Who cares if the other guys are playing for them right now they've flipped others for good players contributing now which is often what contenders do.
If you can't recognize that Tampa's drafting and developing is among the best in the league you are not paying attention.
Edit. Judging their success based off of Stanley cup wins while calling them lucky is ridiculous. Luck is one of the biggest factor in winning a cup. |

I actually look and say “damn you’re still a handsome devil for a mid 50’s guy”.
Tampa’s been great at drafting and developing their own talent for years, they’ve been competitive for a decade because of it. This is their third Cup final I think in the past ten years, that says a lot about their system. I hope they win!

In a flat cap environment, you’re going to see more talented RFAs than usual left unqualified.
Ultimately, Virtanen’s future likely hinges in large part on what happens with Toffoli. The latter is Vancouver’s higher priority and if a deal is hammered out there, Virtanen’s future will be in serious limbo given the type of RFA leverage he carries, coupled with the club’s lack of cap room. - Pacificgem
So he’s an offensively talented 24 year old player with speed and size who hasn’t learned all facets of the game yet. Must learn how to be a better playmaker and how to be more defensively responsible. Ok.
Donny’s right, the horror. |

Actually I was wrong, since 2010/11 the Lightning have been to five Eastern Conference finals including two Stanley Cup finals.
So in ten years they’ve been extremely competitive due to the drafting and developing. Mini is right in that you won’t see many kids from the last four years contributing because they’re still developing or they can’t crack a talent laden lineup from previous years drafting.
They said on the tv the other night, nine of their twelve forwards were either drafted by them or signed as young free agents (Johnson & Gourde). They also turned Drouin into Sergachev. |

I’m fine if he stays, but I’m also ok if they get assets for him. |

Paying attention to what?
Stamkos and Hedman at 1 and 2. Miss on a 3rd overall.
In the second round only about 25% of the players so 7 or 8 out of 31 will even play 100 NHL games. Crap shoot
Third round on it's about 10% of players.
So essentially after the first round, you can't tell me the odds would favour skill over luck.
As you said "luck" is one of the biggest factors in winning the stanley cup. Hence Tampa Bay has been extremely lucky. |

Me too, I’m just not sure the Canucks can get fair value.
One, because of his contract status, and two, because JB is a dumb dumb. |

He doesn’t have much value. Forget he was a high pick. He is a fringe 3rd line winger. Like Lefty said, who cares if he stays or goes |

Drafting, yes, Brayden Point & Kucherov being prime examples. In the games, no, they should be winning. |

Oh so they have had to make numerous trades for players due to the developing of their own. All makes sense now. |

They have assembled quite the team for sure. Getting good and lucky in the later rounds of the draft and missing on first round picks doesn't make them good it makes them lucky.
Trading away players before other teams know they suck isn't developing.
Making trades is something that Tampa Bay does well. No luck involved there. |

Not in the least actually.
I did happen to read that Cam Robinson has thought since the NHL draft that Hoglander has a higher offensive ceiling than Podkolzin though.
That made me shake my head back and forth as much as you talking about how great Tampa is at drafting. With a slight raised eyebrow of how can someone even possibly come to that conclusion. |
