It’s funny I’m waiting for the draft not thinking the rangers had something like this trade going on , now I waiting for them to do something else before the draft. |

Trade DeAngelo as he is potential trouble or high risk imo, sign Krug and you got a great player and person. I would love to see Krug in Rangers colors. |

Domi - nyrangers9479
I can see the Rangers interested in Domi. I just don’t see Montreal interested in Tony D. Not after the money they just put into Edmundson and Petry and they already have Shea Weber’s monster deal |

I think there is a really good chance that Tony D gets signed long term now.
There is even more of an opportunity to start trying him on the left side now too. |

Hi to all!
I have been out of town since Saturday morning, just got home and back on the grid. I am pleasantly surprised to read about the Staal trade --- didn't see that one coming!
I am going to guess that our next big move will be with Tampa after the Cup is awarded. |

I suggested trying him on the left side and immediately got shut down.
Its not like him being a righty or lefty is going to make him a better defensive player. |

Well things are a little different now though.
Never thought they’d get rid of Staal without one dollar of a cap hit

Id love to have Krug, but I doubt the Rangers can afford to give Krug what he will command. |

I really hope they dont go after Domi, something about him just screams disappointment. |

I really don’t know what to expect next. And that’s exciting.
I remember back when they got rid of Gomez contract and then within the next day they had Gaborik signed. The anticipation of what they were gonna do with the money was great. |

Im very excited for the direction this team is going in. Obviously getting 1OAP is mind blowing alone. However, I dont want us to get ahead of ourselves. Really hope we take a calculated approach to this and next offseason.
If I could think of a 2 birds 1 stone trade, would be nice to get Monahan and Hanafin from CGY. |

The one thing Im worried about is the expansion draft. I feel like we have to pick up 1 or 2 guys to leave unprotected but wont hurt us in the long run. |

I remember Higgins being the target of that trade.
Who would have thought McD would turn into what he did? Sather won that trade hands down. |

if they add a significant defenseman, and keep Tony D, then they have 4 defensemen to protect at expansaion draft where they can only protect 3
next decisions are crucial |

I think we all love ADA, but honestly if we got Krug and that costs us ADA, I probably could bite that bullet. We don't know how the young defensmen are going to pan out, but I'm fairly confident we will be fairly solid there.
I think the more interesting case might be if we resign Strome and his chemistry with Panarin continues. You'd think we would protect him, but I'm not sure it's a given.

the Strome thing would be interesting because if they protect him, that means they expose a guy like Gauthier
right now I would guess the guy they lose to Seattle will be one of Howden, Gauthier, Hajek or Lias Andersson

I think that out of those guys, I'd only worry about what Gauthier could become. I could see if having a Willy K type breakout in the right situation.
I'd miss Howden if only because I think he could be a good bottom 6 piece. Those guys are somewhat plentiful and it's not worth losing sleep over. Barron could probably fill that role anyway.
The other guys, they can go ahead and take.

the thing about losing Gauthier that would bother me is that Joey Keane has a chance to be really solid
but like I said before, we have to lose somebody to Seattle, no way around it |

As gorton has said, we will lose 1 good player. Not the end of the world.

No doubt Krug is a player, but my personal opinion is that I kinda want to kick the tires on Vatanen. Obviously not nearly as good as Krug, but the price tag will be quite a bit better.
We have to be careful, before we know it guys like Fox, Kakko and even in a few years Lafrienne will have to get paid.

I don't think the Rangers are going to target any right handed defenseman though |

Doesn't he play both sides? At least on capfriendly he's listed as both

Why would we have ANY interest in Krug?
He is an older, smaller much more expensive version of Tony D'Angelo ---- doesn't make sense. Doesn't fit into our rebuild at all... |

I know he shoots righty
I don't know, I'd be really surprised if they targeted Vatanen
