This is truly a sad day! Marc has been an icon for the NYR! Unfortunately those who demanded he be traded don't understand hockey very well. Even though Marc played hurt and had 3 serious injuries he fought through it! Marc used to key on the best offensive player Alex Ovechkin and did a better job against him than anyone else did.... The amount of disrespect given to Marc was 100% uncalled for!!! Same goes for Dan Girardi two players I will miss very much.

I don't consider it disrespect --- he got old and injuries diminished his skills. All athletes are on a clock, and Staals' time was up, he had to go. What he did 5+ years ago is nice to reflect upon, but it doesn't help our roster in 20-21.

I think biggest reason that Eichel gets talked about to Rangers is that Quinn was his college coach and the Rangers need for a center
- jimbro83

There is NO WAY Buffalo gives up Eichel without a fight! The cost not in salary but what the Rangers would have to give up for a rock star like Eichel would not be worth it. There are other ways of getting a young good center or a veteran just bought out for nothing. Cirelli is our best option. Tampa only has 5M in cap space with a ton of resigning. We have Chytil and a first round draft pick to trade for him. Cirelli comes a lot cheaper and this kid can flat out play!! I say we offer him 7M & 7 years on an offer sheet and lock this kid up, Tampa will not able to handle that. We do this right after this years first round draft!!!

No flipping way Im giving Cirelli 7x7 on a flat cap for who knows how long, for a kid who we assume is going to be really good.

I have no idea what the heck youre talking about. No one has ever disrespected Staal. However, hes old and carries a fat contract that could hamper us from signing the new youth and future of this franchise.

No slight against Kirk, he played really well in this series. Too bad we didn't have him against the Kings
Thrilled for Mac to finally win the Cup!

As much fun as it was watching the Stanley Cup get awarded, the reality is that several Tampa Bay players won't be on the team in less than a month...

LETS GET CIRELLI!

I have to admit, I haven’t been a huge Gary Bettman fan in the past, best he and his staff deserve a lot of credit for pulling off the Stanley cup tournament without any positive cases of COVID. And to the players, who persevered during what must have been an extremely difficult 2 months. Congratulations to all.

With regard to the Rangers, one name that I hear from time to time as possible trade target is Sean Monahan. His salary is somewhat concerning, but he would be a perfect for a 2nd line center.

McDonagh was in the perfect role for him behind Hedman on the 2nd pair

He didn't have to worry about providing offense and could just play his game

We never would have had long playoff runs if McDonagh only had 5 points in 22 games like he did this postseason, the Rangers relied on him too much for offense

Im just seeing the MacKenzie/Eichel now, aside from all the armchar GM stuff that I couldnt understand why it was the rage.

My simple opinion on Eichel is the fallout from a trade will be overall worse for the Rangers.

Yeah, I don't think there is a scenario where having Eichel makes sense for the Rangers to get. Maybe it would be different if Zib still had 2-3 years on his contract. You could see a scenario where in 2-3 years you hope Chytil would be an established 2C, and you could entertain the idea of letting Zib walk, but that isn't the case.

If we got Eichel, we would become a very top heavy team real quickly. We'd be Toronto south with possibly worse results.

Yeah. You have to give Tampa credit, I thought this going all in strategy was going to backfire on them (and after last season thought it did) and they managed to pull it off.

They will still have some really good pieces, but you wonder if now would be the perfect time for them to blow it up somewhat and retool. With the right moves, they wouldn't fall off much and could get back in contention very quickly.

I feel they got the right type of players at the dead line. Good 3rd and 4th line guys instead of trying to make a big splash. Masterful gm-ing

It's like every single move they made I thought was bad worked out for them. I thought they had no clue what they were doing when they signed Maroon, safe to say I was wrong on that one.

I wonder if Yzerman is going to be like a Dale Tallon type GM. Always good for pulling the pieces together, but doesn't really know how to put the team over the top so to speak.
