He is worth 1st Rounder, A B Level prospect, top 4 Dman and a 3rd Round pick - Avsrchamps01
So basically....
Sanheim, 2020 1st and Rubstov/O'Brien/Brink
I won't budge on the 3rd. That's enough for a guy who will want a new contract north of 10M per that could be just as easily a 15-20 goal scorer as a 50 goal scorer.
Update: I thought about it for a minute. Honestly I'd rather have Sanheim and the prospects over paying that much money for someone so inconsistent. |

The Jets should just keep Pat Laine, sign Cody Ceci, and plan a parade. |

Iggy, you have been fired from your GM position, the Isles are not trading Pulock plus for a one dimensional freak. He has a big shot and nothing else and maybe a big ego. Pulock is a stud and hopefully remains the Isles top Dman for years to come. |

I'd give Domi, Kulak (or Fleury or Juulsen), and a first. Add a second D if you need to, Mete can be in there too. |

I would think the Flyers would do this deal but how good will Sanheim get down the road, I think he has kind of maxed out and that is not bad. Two big issues are how much is Laine think he is worth and really he has to contribute a little more than a cannon of a shot. |

What about Nolan Patrick? - TheUltimateJet
Done Deal! Gost, Patrick and a first for Laine Make the offer offical and we can advise trade central Some Flyer fans might not like this but if I a GM this gets done without hesitation. |

Not bad but nobody will take Okposo so add Olofsson and this happens. |

Would the Jets consider some sign and trades? Like maybe Buffalo can sign Pietrangelo and Ceci. Then trade them for Laine. Jets get a new first pair on defense. Buffalo gets Laine without losing anyone on the roster. After that Buffalo can offer sheet Pulock for cheap, then sign Krug and Hall. Keep your eye on the Saberes. |

Without any salary going back the other way (Ghost’s isn’t enough), this could never happen.
Flyers need to send back as much as they take on, or it doesn’t work for them. Philly doesn’t have top FA money to play with right now.
The defenseman who would have to be shipped is Sanheim. The Jets would rather have him anyway, and it helps dollars and cents wise.
So as a Flyers fan, you’d have to ask yourself if your comfortable sending Sanheim plus a bundle of picks and prospects, because otherwise our teams don’t match as trade partners |

Sanheim makes less than Gost by 1.250 million so your math is questionable. When a player of this magnitude becomes available you do what it takes to get it done. I look at Voracek and his horrendous contract, look at ways to make it work. |

Sigh*
Sanheim is going to make significantly more than Ghost next deal. You know that. We’re looking at dollars when it comes to resigning a guy. THATS why Laine might have to leave. Sanheim needs a new deal in less than a year from now. He’s gonna demand a decent raise.
But yeah, if we’re being truthful, it’s gonna take JvR or Voracek to leave. Between those two, Hayes, and G, they’ll never afford to be able to renew Laine. Then you’re right back where Winnipeg is. G and Hayes have NMCs, and god knows nobody is paying you for the other two deals. Especially without taking back their OWN cap problem.
So pretty much, Philly just plain isn’t a viable trade partner. They have to patch their problems from within until a major contract peters out, or if they try to tempt Seattle with like Zamula and an additional 2nd for them to take JvR. That’s a dangerous game to play.
Most likely Philly doesn’t make a splash until two years from now if Giroux then walks or agrees to a significant salary decrease. |

Agreed pretty much. I would waive JVR for the purpose of buying him out. Trade Gostisbehere and you got enough money for Laine. That would be 11.250 gone if you could move those two for next too nothing. |

Kulak, Domi and a first - DonCherries Their is no way this trade is worth Lowry let alone Laine.

Laine needs to be on a team with an Ekblad that swap doesn't make sense. But if Winnipeg is going to rebuild id hold out for 2 firsts and a d |

I mean, that’s a path to take, but they still have to consider other things. If you waive/buy out JvR and trade Ghost, it’s not all profit. There will still be a cap hit for JvR and Ghost isn’t leaving for nothing most likely. My guess is even if Ghost goes for a pick, it likely won’t be solo, and we’re still probably retaining $3m or so in whatever returns with him (including the JvR slap on the wrist). But maybe not.
I’d like to have Laine, I would, but I’m just seeing a lot of hoops. I’m not sure who we give up, but it would likely have to be a defensive cog, and I don’t think Ghost interests them. I certainly don’t mind giving picks away for a known commodity like Laine, tho. That’s fine. I still think they’d want to start with Sanheim and a 1st, plus a prospect. O’Brien isn’t gonna cut it. They’ll be asking for one of Frost, Brink, Zamula, or York.
And they’d probably get an offer like that. Like you said, players like Laine at his age don’t become available very often, and when they do, it won’t be cheap |

Ek has reported JVR + Ghost for Gaudreau. That move saves the Flyers almost $5M in cap space. They can use that extra space to sign Pietrangelo and then flip him for Pat Laine. Everyone wins. Ek too, for nailing it on the Gaudreau trade. |
