If we’re on the corner of State and Madison, the vaccine is on the corner of 42ns St. and Broadway. A long way around the corner.
Especially by the time sufficient doses can be produced and distributed, and enough people can be persuaded to get it.
Next year (December? January?) will not be back to normal. 2021-22 may begin the return to it. - StLBravesFan
The us government has 4 vaccines in stage 3 trails with already producing 100 million doses for each . Then to your point about those who might not want to take the vaccine you as a population have already come to the point of herd ammuninitty. By next summer the latest was my point |

A vaccine in and of itself does not get things back to normal. Effectiveness, distribution, % of people actually getting it, and a host of other factors will play a huge role in when things will be "back to normal". This is likely regardless of what the infection and death rates actually are, because mayors/governors/prime ministers/presidents/etc. will likely have differing views on how to handle the situation since few want to get ahead of themselves and exacerbate the problem by being too aggressive. Caution will likely be the word going forward. - Chunk
Most estimates that I've read, from actual medical professionals, see us gaining 'herd immunity' sometime in 2021, most likely the 2nd or 3rd quarter. The most optimistic forecasts are Q1 of 2021 (that relies on a vaccine before year-end with widespread inoculations between December and January/February), the most pessimistic is 4th quarter (well actually never, but that's an outlier opinion). |

The entire purpose of racing to find a effective vaccine is to get the world back to normal. Your other points at least here in the US have all been worked out .
Also where alomost as a country at the point of herd ammunitty that with a vaccine and many proven therapeutic allow for things to go back to normal. The survival rate is 99% and the low end on that for people ages 70 plus is 94% - Taylorst1
What are you basing this on? There is NO data (published) to back up this claim. I'm not arguing what "should" be done. I am stating what likely will be done.
I don't care what the purpose of racing to a vaccine is intended to do. Just because one is available, does not automatically make it 100% effective, widely and quickly distributed, and implemented across a majority of the populace. The government also cannot mandate anyone take it (unless I am mistaken in my interpretation, I'm not sure if there is a provision for pandemics), just like they can't mandate anyone takes the flu vaccine. |

Got to believe Houston could do better than a few of these cities? Warm weather but our 4th largest city, bigger than anything in Florida. |

Regarding Sikura for Pirri, I would have rather seen the Hawks trade for another prospect whose path was blocked in another organization. I can only hope that Pirri can impart some kind of veteran wisdom and leadership in Rockford that has an impact on the up and coming players.

I think its More so this year that has the biggest effect on the nhl salary cap then next year. Imo a vaccine is right around the corner so next year imo things will be back to normal. - Taylorst1
"What's normal?" 10% unemployment or whatever it is won't go away quickly companies are figuring out their layoff plans these days. |

It has to be more vet presence in Rockford. There can't be any need for him on the mother ship. - Rota's Rooter
That could be it. I imagine with Dylan Sikura traded, there is a likelihood that older brother Tyler won't be retained either so the Hogs lose their captain. Lose one veteran and need to replenish with another.
Pirri wouldn't have been my choice to be that veteran, though. Yes, he's a veteran but not necessarily one to lead a team. We'll see. Hopefully he has grown into that role as he didn't have the best attitude earlier in his career. |

I did read that PIRRI lives in Chicago and with Vegas AHL team moving to NV they were trying to get him back in CHI. I see us doing him and Vegas a favor but I feel like they got the player with more value. they both make $750K that is a wash. seems odd. |

Well, which will make you feel worse? COVID or the Sikura for Pirri trade?
I just finished reading the Athletic article on Crow. Nothing earth-shattering. They don't know much more than Corey is likely going to test FA, and that teams with cap space will swoop in for the best available options. The remaining teams will be looking at the "average guys" that are left, and said goalies will be looking at cheaper contracts.
One outside the box idea was to just go full youth movement and run with two of Lankinen, Delia, and Subban. I don't think that would be the end of the world, but I don't think that's the way it will pay out either. |

I think this move was simply a swap of minor leaguers. This was the Hawks saying to Sikura, we don't see you ahead of 4-5 other guys, so we want to give you a chance with another club. In 3 years with VGK, Pirri has played 2, 31, and 16 games with the big club. We just swapped out a younger AHLer with and older one.
I don't think this is anything to lose sleep over (not that I'm saying you are). CHI just didn't think enough of him and wanted to "do right" and give him a shot somewhere else. I would have preferred that they try to use him as a "sweetener" on another deal, but if Pirri is all we got for him, he likely isn't all that highly regarded around the league. - Chunk
I agree, Sikura would have been better as a trade sweetener or just for a draft pick. Would rather have an extra lotto ticket. |

Actually their is plenty of data. Herd immunity many doctors already believe weare close to it or have reached it in certain states i.e new yorkcity as probably having reached it already. On mandatory vaccination that's a legal question that nobody can say for certainty the cdc has alot of power and courts have seem 5o give deference to them. |

Actually the unemployment rate is at 8.6 well below what many thought would be in the 14 to 20 percent... its mostly democrat run states that have kept shutdown and have the worse death and unemployment rates. Those are facts. |

I've read articles no herd immunity with this virus and the CDC says April at the soonest for mass population vaccines.

It sounds like Franson is likely the first in line there, no? King raved about him, and he's like a "coach on the ice". |

North Carolina only pays 3 months unemployment so after that you are not counted as unemployed. Regardless, 8.6 is high and ask Ogi about how fast the economy is coming back. |
