Why don’t we just hire a stat nerd to be the GM, look at this chart that encompasses all of hockey!!
- ClaudeFather

Well when you apply these stats to watching him they make sense. Those numbers are to be used in context with other data no?

Our Young players get better.......

2nd year under AV will clean up the wrinkles in the current system they play

What realistically did you expect? At 1 mill what FA do you think is going to join the 3rd pair and turn this team around? Demelo? Holzer? Del Zotto? Thats all you are getting for 1 mill.

Hagg is a fine 3rd pair Dman. He knows his role and he does it well. Plus 1.6 mill is a hell of a lot better than Braun at 3.8 mill

Like many say every dollar counts. Overspending on your bottom pair and 4th line isn't wise no matter how small the savings.

What value does Hagg add? He is is your run of the mill replacement level player.

So is every other 3rd pair Dman. Who are you signing as a 3rd pair Dman at a lower rate and better than Hagg?

Most the notable FAs are going to make more than Hagg. The best option is DeMelo and we dont know what his next contract will look like. He could still get equal to more than hagg.

Also WPG will NEVER trade Laine for Laughton, Ghost and a 1st. WPG is looking for a #2 C and/or top 4 D.

Hmmm...for the few months prior to the shutdown they seemed pretty legit to me. I don't see why they can't be that team again.

Did you see the playoff series against Montreal and New York? They were thoroughly outplayed in more than half the games.

When you watch him you see the worst Dman in the NHL? He quietly went about his job in the playoffs and was not noticed much which is exactly what you want from a bottom pairing defender.

Wrong, they are horrible! And they have zero prospects that might make a difference and fill a role.

Thanks. I'll show myself out and go try to learn how this hockey stuff works.

I saw every game. Clearly they can play better than they did. Major changes aren't required to have that happen.

Always the who are you signing to replace. Go look at the free agent list. I will keep it simple and just add 2 former Flyers. MDZ or Schenn. Hell I would offer tampa future considerations and take Coburn back over Hagg fpr 100k more.

You can easily wait it out to see who is left to sign as there is always players available.

I don't know. Maybe creatively free up some cap space to bring in a better player? Good teams tend to do that from time to time.

And Pittsburgh didn't even make the playoffs, so they should dismantle theirbteam ASAP.

When i watch him I cringe. He isnt very good. He was noticed as he didn't play well. Every team pretty much has a guy like that; the point is no need to overpay it is all.

I think Pittsburgh has already made two trades. Why are you comparing the Flyers to the Penguins?

Can't make it up. Chris Stewart retired this morning, and the Flyers already hired him as a player development coach.

Next move, Fletcher hires his plumber as an International scout.

I think it’s a safe projection that the return would be inadequate when you take into account his recent play and injury issues.

Hagg deal is fair. Term and AAV are doable. Hagg has made gains in his team play since making the squad. He is not a great player but he is worth 1.6

With the Cap staying flat for 3 years Fletcher is limited.

Needs to sign Myers and NP. Get Moose for cheap.

I think Fletcher will bring back Pitlick or Thompson but not both. Grant will be gone.

This is not the same team back idea with Lindblom being recovered and NP will hopefully recover. Add in improving young players. They already signed Linus Sandin as some depth if the kids don’t make steps.

Only other thing that could come would be a Hockey Trade involving Ghost or JVR. But that is reaching.

Fletcher won’t rock the boat in this off season. Team is competitive and can be tweaked a bit but not much.

One would think that having a 4.5M cap hit bouncing between the lineup and healthy scratch-dom would be the bigger mistake. But yes, the return is kind of important, isnt it?
