He isnt a fit because the coach wont play him. Not a ghost fan though would take him any day over Hagg. - login
two different players, fit is a big part of the Ghost issue, taking Ghost over Hagg doesn't solve that.
I do think if Ghost could play with Nisk you might see a better Ghost.

True, the Flyers are better because they made the playoffs and the Pens didnt.
And I don't think trading a 1st for a bottom-6 forward and trading a top-9 forward for a 3rd pairing D are the kind of franchise-altering trades that this terrible team would need to become a contender. - jmatchett383
They have magic seeds they are going to give Patrick and Laughton and turn them into Crosby and Malkin.
Then Fletcher is going to take the delorean out and 1.21 gigawatts later it will be 2009...... boom 3 Cups. |

He seemed to be very well liked by the guys in the locker room and seemed like a good pro. - ClaudeFather
He was just cooked as a player by the time he came here. But for those morons who say he sucked at hockey, you don't score 160 goals in the NHL if you "suck at hockey".
He seems like he has a good mentality to be a player development type guy.

The name of the game is puck possession, getting puck out of the zone, and passing. Hagg does neither well. Up to the coach to make it work. Ghost has his wort's no doubt. Seems Ghost had to play a perfect game to stay in the lineup. Ghost can help more than Hagg is all. |

Absolutely, believe it was Patrick who mentioned him as someone he was talking to during his rough patch as well. |

agreed on what Ghost brings and I was in the corner that Ghost should have played but it is a fit issue. I see why Hagg played, they needed that physical stay at home D. Honestly I said then and still think they should have sat Braun for a game.

Never said trade for parise, like a typical demo that you are; you spin it when it was clear that wasnt said. - login
It 100% was said. You were the one doing the spinning after everyone was laughing at you. |

Honestly I don't see this physical play from Hagg. Yes when he gets beat and chasing players I guess he hits them.
U get why Braun stayed in the lineup. Him and Hagg where a bad fit!!!! |

No it was not. What I said was jake for parise. Does either team do it. Then in a f/u post right after I clearly stated this is the type of deal you are probably looking at if you move jake.
Nowhere did I say trade Jake for Parise. Nowhere. Only you and the other dope where laughing as others knew that I never said it. |

JVR has 250 goals. Should have made him the player development coach. |

Yeah I like the hire, and it’s similar to Lappy’s history with us. Stewart seemed to be very well liked and I know a lot of the younger guys spoke highly of him. Especially Patrick. |

Don’t think those guys are as good as Hagg. Sorry, not on board with that. Hagg’s value is 1.6 and is a fair deal. He is better then 1.0 players.
The player on D not fitting right now is Ghost. Don’t get me wrong. He still has value but is not a fit on this current team. Hagg does fit a role and that
Is why CF signed him. - peesinwind
That would depend on what Ghost we would be getting. Ghost getting his game back would be a definite fit for this team. |

Developing players includes helping them acclimate to being a professional. Everybody that makes it to the NHL has talent. Not everybody has the mindset and work ethic to stay in the NHL. I actually think Stewart will be good with the young players in that regard.
But if goals scored is the key to being hired, we should shoot a little higher than JVR.

Just think if Stewart can develop players like Laperriere had the PK running like a well oiled machine it will be a tremendous hire. |

So bring back the same team that we know isn't good enough to compete for a Cup? That's the plan? - PLindbergh31
GM basically said he's keeping it together and banking on internal improvements.
So yeah, that's the plan. |

Well that plan is better than trading draft picks for aging rentals. I just think banking on Patrick coming back healthy is penny wise and pound foolish. There is a young core that can definitely improve, I just think at the same time as the youth is progressing, the veterans will decline. So the productivity will stagnate. I guess we shall see. |

No complaints with this deal. Hagg improved his play under AV this year IMO. Congrats to Hagg - arichardson22
The dislike towards Hagg is weird. I’m happy he’s coming back. |

The only guy I would want from this year's UFAs is Pietro. I know he is 30 but he is a stud and had a great season. He has 5 years of probably being a sure top 10 defender in the league and you pay for that. I see him getting 7 years at 9.5 and I would not be averse to that deal if that was the missing piece.
But we are not close, so I would probably not do that. |

Ghost looked a lot better in the playoffs. Who knows? With more recovery time how he could. Just at present level he is not a fit. Even his improved playoff performance seemed hard to find his fit.
I wouldn’t give him away for nothing. Hockey trade is what I see him moved for. Think he has game still in him. |

From Ek's latest blog:
Also, if something isn't done to share revenues or bail out certain teams we could see up to 4 franchises be forced to either fold or re-locate within two seasons....
I'd be fine with that - the folding/relocating part that is, not the bailing out part. |
