Why would you possibly have a problem with Stewart becoming a player development coach? He is a frickin flyer legend! Only NateTombstone or Grant can push him out of the flyers HOF - MBFlyerfan

At the time he was hired, no one had issue with Laperriere becoming the PK coach. Worked out splendidly. As did the Hakstol hire. Hiring guys who have no NHL coaching experience who aren't qualified for the job seem to always work out. |

Pietrangelo finished #9 in Norris the previous year (17-18). In most estimations, he is a perpetual top ten D-man for several years now.
Binnington was #5 for Vezina, and # 2 for Calder that year.
ROR was Selke trophy winner.
Over the previous 4 (15-16 through 18-19) years, Tarasenko was top 3 in LW goals scored and top 5 in LW points.
Sure, St. Louis is probably the closest we have in terms of hopeful comparisons. They play a pretty heavy game though, and we don't really.
Also, how about the previous years stretching all the way back to the Canes of 2006? - PT21
So let's look at the Flyers. We have a Selke winning #1 center. Provorov has the potential to grow into a top 10 NHL defenseman. Hart certainly has the potential to be a top NHL goalie. So all we need is a Tarasenko. The Blues were not a high scoring team. Flyers have the forward depth for scoring.

I know everyone gave Tampa a hard time for trading their 1st for Coleman. But 5 goals in the playoffs and Tampa also likely winning the cup, it makes it worth it for them. |

its also crazy to think that STL was close to making some big trades to core players during the regular season before their hot run. |

The poster, PT21 is just drastically overreacting to one playoff season. A playoff season where a number of young Flyers were getting their first taste of the playoffs. He also keeps ignorantly comparing the Flyers to teams that are further along in their team development curve. We saw what adding a few players can do for a team and how it can improve quickly. We've seen the glimpses.of talent that the young players have. As they continue to grow, the sky is the limit.

Completely agree with all of this. Excited for our team moving forward. |

They’re gear up to eviscerate me... instead of jumping on board for da $. It’s ok. I get it. The naysayers would rather wait for a loss than count all that $$$ |

Watching the SCF being played with no fans from a hospital bed is weird.
Also, (frank) kidney stones. |

This is my 2nd. Doesn’t want to move on it’s own. The 1st time I had one it legit felt like I was getting stabbed.
It’s arguably worse than watching Lecavalier play for the Flyers. |

There is a lot to be excited about for the Flyers. Carter Hart seems to be the real deal. I would only make minor tweaks on the defense but for the most part, that top four of Ivan Provorov, Matt Niskanen, Phil Myers and Travis Sanheim are something I wouldn’t change heading into next season.
However, you can arguments for and against the mix of forwards we have. Yes, we have a Selke number one center in Sean Couturier, who in my opinion is doing too much for this team. He’s expected to check top lines, start on the top penalty killing pair, number one power play unit, and produce offensively. As impressive as this might be on paper, Coots does not produce to the same level as most super star centers do. We’ve also committed to Kevin Hayes who a rich version of Sean Couturier but not as good. Meaning Hayes has the money and plays a respectable two way game but isn’t as good as Couturier. The point on making is, brushing off the idea of bringing in or entertaining the idea of having a top scorer because you’re confident in our scoring depth raises an eyebrow for me. This team does not have three scoring lines like 2010 or 2012. It’s only a matter of time until Giroux and Voracek are ushered out. Konecny, Lindblom and Farabee look promising but we don’t know what their ceilings are. |

We’re gonna have to agree to disagree here. Provorov has singlehanded changed the dynamic of this team. That gap between Timonen leaving and Provorov arriving, the Flyers were brutal to watch in between that time. |
