Why would you play QH on his off side?

I would stay as far away from OEL as possible. If you think having Edler, or Myers, or LE on the books is bad, having an 8.25 mil contract until the guy is 36/37 is terrible. Especially since you'll be need to pay Hughes, Petey, Bo, Brock, and possibly some guys like Podk and Hoglander over that time. Makes no sense.

Yup . Not to mention no team should be taking on huge contracts during the flat cap.

i think they'll play as well. i just hadn't heard anything about the logistics.
i'm more interested to see how they'll decide on who makes the team.

just a thought: have a big pool of players that come in around late nov. do the initial isolation and testing. have tryouts that span a week. and then have a training camp that culminates with the beginning of exhibition play.

...but to have a big pool of invitees/tryout players, that means that other leagues haven't started.

im curious how the money will play into the whole thing. the nhl pushed the pace of the bubble to help players get home but also the cost factor. theres obviously the tournament which they seem committed to but also the tryouts like you said.

do sponsors, iihf, each countries governing body, and tsns tv deal produce enough money to run the tournament w/o fans? and does hockey canada have enough saved to host its tryouts?

i think tsn would really be the driving force behind making sure this gets done. they do huge ratings with the tournament and those ratings will only be higher during the christmas season this year.

you're absolutely right though. the costs are going to be much higher this year. who's going to cover the increase? i think tsn kicks in but they won't cover all the extra charges.

Looks like they're doing virtual training camps?

I think deals like swapping Jake for Debrusk could work but I can also see him traded for a draft pick.

I still think it hinges on Taffoli. If Canucks don't sign Toffoli then I think they will give Jake a contract.

I think if they are buying out someone it should be someone who has at least two years. Leave all the contracts ending this year alone.

I don't know if you can but if you could sell a team the recapture penalty that would be better than B/O Beagle

Yup.
OEL is the wrong contract at the wrong time.
Just kicking tires I imagine.

Trade idea:

LE, Virtanen, OJ for OEL 1m retained.

OEL - Hughes
Edler - Myers

becomes your top 4. Big question is whether or not OEL's lower numbers these last couple years are due to being on a sh!tty Coyotes team. I think he still has 4 or 5 years of elite play in him on a better team.

- Retinalz

This is not enough for one of the best all-around dmen in the league. Maybe those three plus two first rounders. Or a first and a solid d prospect like rathbone.

Maybe OEL is the wrong target, i wouldnt hate it but he’s not cheap. But we beed a d upgrade, and not these one dimensional offensive dmen like risto and barrie that have been floating around. I wonder if buff could be had for cheap?

If they sign Buff they will need to buy a tub of lard to grease the fat fuks shoulders so he can squeeze into the dressing room

Buff is done.
But I agree that we do t need a established (overpriced and older) Dman.
We could use a 2-4 Dman.
I’m sure every team has a hardon for him, but I’d enquire about Oleksiak.

I can see why they are kicking tires, that’s for sure. Need RHD more, but not a bad problem to have considering just how good he is defensively and at passing. One of the best transition passers in the game. Period.

Dillon is my ufa of choice. Rugged. Solid defender, decent all around but net front guy. Kinda guy Myers tries to be once in a while and doesn’t know how to so takes 2-4 penalties per game. Eriksson is really bad signing, but Myers is not going to age well imo.

Love the size, big guy like tgat to be agile on skates is pretty rare. Feed him a tub of grease for all i care, the guy is everything this team needs.

Yup, but we can't sign our own UFA's right now. I like him though, he'd love to play here.

Really?! He flat out stated he’d take a discount. I’m sure his agent didn’t like that

Can’t see why he wouldn’t. Marky has never/may never get paid. He’s gitta at least look. Same with toffi. Them i could see easily go elsewhere. Buffalo may overpay both, for example. Tanev is a career Canuck. Book it.
