Well fellow Tampa fans, enjoy the feeling for a while.

Then, watch the roster get murdered by the cap.

Killorn, Johnson, Paquette, Shattenkirk, and a few others probably won't be back.

The answer is Johnson (no big loss) and Killorn (who will be missed), coupled with none of the UFAs coming back.
It feels like this is perfect time to let some more kids have a shot at full time spots

I completely understand this logic but don't they both have NTC's? Winnipeg is desperate for a center, as our many teams. Johnson is not a center anymore, and i'd want nothing to do with that contract for an aging winger. I'd absolutely call about Cirelli and even see if Gourde would waive to come to Winnipeg but the other two, i'd pass. it may not be as easy to just move out the salary you want to, and then again maybe it will be ?

Players waive NTCs all the time, especially when Johnsons role will become a 4th line winger or a buyout at worst.

And if it costs the rangers a 2nd round pick to dump a pylon like mark staal (even if its only for a year) I think we can find a taker for Johnson with some prospects or picks to sweeten the pot if needed.

The league's GMs are circling the Lightning like hungry hyenas. Players like Cirelli or Sergachev might get offer sheets thrown at them. But, an offer sheet means jack squat if the player won't sign it - just ask Brayden Point. You think he regrets not signing that offer sheet from Montreal now?

Tampa is a destination team to play for. Nobody will be in a rush to leave for a few more bucks that they won't get to keep because they'll likely be playing in an area with a state-level income tax. I would be very surprised if a Tampa player even considered signing an offer sheet, unless it's a crazy astronomical offer.

Killorn will be the odd man out in NTC terms. You gotta think that almost all of the second-tier players are now expendable - Johnson, Palat, Gourde, Paquette, Cernak, Coburn, etc.

Shattenkirk likely won't be back. Schenn is gone. Bogosian is gone. Maroon is gone.

Sergachev and Cirelli are staying (barring something major going down).

This kind of cap-crunch is a good problem to have, especially when there is a Cup to show for it.

I know we have Foote prospect wise who can come up on D, but do we have any offensive prospects who can fill out our 2nd-4th lines when we move out guys like Killorn, Johnson, etc.?

I'd certainly take Palat, and perhaps even Gourde, out of that list.

Plenty I believe. Fortier, Katchouk, Raddysh, Stephen's, Volkov, etc.

I agree I definitely think they are going to try and move Tyler Johnson. He has his cup now, maybe he can go play somewhere that he can be the 1 or 2 C playing 18-20 minutes a night... I think its enough incentive for him to waive and reestablish himself as a player. As for who would take him, would he waive, I have no idea.

Killorn has a M-NTC he will most likely be traded even though I would rather keep him.

Paquette can be moved pretty easily and replaced.

Brayden Coburn can be bought out or traded.

I have played around with capfriendly enough that if the Lightning move these four guys they can still field a pretty good team next season and re-sign their RFAs.

Maybe some of the veterans would like Maroon, Bogosian, Shatty would take discounts to stay with the team again.

Going to be an interesting next 10-14 days.

I would hope Palat stays. He's earned a spot on that top line and has great chemistry. Gourde does seem to have re-found his game when paired up with Coleman and Goodrow. I really don't want to see anyone leave, but, we all know it's gonna happen.

If all else fails, we have guys like Stephens, Verhagae (sp, damn that name!), Volkov, Joseph, and Smith down in Syracuse. That would fill a couple of roster spots. Other than Foote on D, I am not sure who else is down there that is worth a shot.
