This team in the last decade just keeps finding ways to screw its fans.

We could've freaking kept coleman!!

I like the holtz pick
Need to read more on Mercer
But pick 20 just seems like a big reach and feel that Perrault or someone else would have been better

The draft rankings seemed to have him mid to late 2nd or 3rd round. Haven't seen one with him in the first round

- dmarsden2988

Todd apparently likes the Mercer pick too and sees him as a Parise like player as well. I'm starting to warm on it.

I agree about Shakir, if we really like this guy figure it out tomorrow. I'm okay with a reach pick at 20 but this is too far out to make sense. Nobody else was going to get this guy in the first round.

Steve Kournianos thoughts on the pick:

Mukhamadullin has No. 1 potential. Russians have thought so for several years. There are shoddy reports on his game circulating around the web, but he was in my top-31 for half the season before dropping him simply because I watched more players. Off the board pick but promising

It was just a waste. If that was your target trade down, if not pick some one of value and trade up later. This was just a pathetic pick.

I like the Mercer pick. I think it's a safe one. If we get a 3rd line high energy player with good puck handling, forechecking and passing that's a win. I just don't understand what we did at #20 at all.

They couldve traded down and God forbid someone somehow takes him..you still have all the actual good players to choose from.

Holtz was a great pick, the rest can (frank) right off. The first time they have 3 picks in a good draft and they absolutely blow it.

Nah they only blew the 3rd pick, which they (frank)ed up big time, but the first 2 were good picks

Lol I can't get over seeing that name at 20th. Imagine if that was our only pick in this draft ..

If they think this guy is the one, sure I'll buy it. But you can move back in the draft to trade down for a late 1st rounder and pick up a late 2nd/prospect out of it too.

Well Duh...someone forgot to tell Fitz though. All the goodwill at last year's trade deadline is gone. No trades and then two reaches.

I'm still stunned. No one was willing to trade for #20 and then we take that guy later? This isn't a hey I wanted this guy over that guy type gripe, this is a what the (frank) did we just do type gripe.

Yep. There were so many better options, including trading down - which happened one pick before so it was possible.

Mercer was not a reach, he was arguably BPA at 18.

I am so effin pissed right now. This franchise exists just to frustrate. Its like god keeps giving them a lifeline and they keep saying "no" we know better.

Yes, arguably, I will admit to that. I just would have gone elsewhere, and no I am not an NHL GM.

And of course we will hear this for years:
Rangers believed that Devils were going to select Schneider at 20. That's why they hopscotched NJ with the trade with Calgary to No. 19. = Brooks.

So what I'm seeing is that Mukhamadullin is big 6'2"/6'4", can skate well, and has a monster shot. He's apparently really skinny and needs to put on weight. Perhaps him currently playing in the KHL factors in too because they see he's not losing out on development like some of the Canadian/US players might.
