Yep they got their man..at everyone else's expense. |

And of course we will hear this for years:
Rangers believed that Devils were going to select Schneider at 20. That's why they hopscotched NJ with the trade with Calgary to No. 19. = Brooks. - redmonsters
Calgary picking up 2nd and 3rd round picks like crazy with a lot of good players on the board. We take the biggest reach I've seen in a long time instead. |

So what I'm seeing is that Mukhamadullin is big 6'2"/6'4", can skate well, and has a monster shot. He's apparently really skinny and needs to put on weight. Perhaps him currently playing in the KHL factors in too because they see he's not losing out on development like some of the Canadian/US players might. - Pomegrant
Yeah hes a big boy that can skate and shoot well, but doesnt really do much more well right now. He has a ton of room to grow though and playing in the KHL should help. Like i said before, hes a high ceiling/low floor pick. I dont hate taking the shot on him but my issue with it, as seems to be with everyone else, is that we couldve traded back and picked up additional assets and still got him |

I really, really hope someone sees something that absolutely no one else does, because reach doesn't even begin to describe that pick if you look at anyones draft rankings. |

I still can't blame them for picking Mercer over him. But yes, this may suck our Richards for a long time..or maybe not. |

Gelinas like but better skater and better defensive capabilities. Apparently plays really physical too.
You guys wanted grit on the blue line and this guy lines up with that for sure.

How have dmen from the khl done in the NHL with adapting to the difference in rink size? With the extra room they have more time offensively but what about defensively? |

I hear you - but its not about liking the guy, its about asset management, and i know you get that. He was a reach, so do like Calgary trade down, get more assets and then pick him. I am sure we would all be happy wit that. Instead we got what we got, asset mismanagement as usual. |

Oh absolutely, i wouldve absolutely preferred to trade down. Luckily the Jackets "out-reached" us with the very next pick, so we didnt have the worst pick. Steve Kournianos really knows his Russians and he likes the kid, so i cant totally hate it. You can't deny the upside of this kid though, he has a higher upside than Bahl. Who knows if he hits it though. I give us a B- for this 1st round, with the potential to be higher depending how well Mukhamadulin develops |
