It'd be one thing if Patrick were a garbage hockey player but the fact that his condition is out of his hands that makes it disappointing.

All it is is people using hindsight to try to make themselves look smart, but none of them said any of this around the draft. It's laughable. - Ftown19125

Anybody else cringe at Doc talking about the weight of the cup and about men who have had their hernias repaired and who cannot play going on the ice and lifting it and risking having their stitches burst?
Exactly the image I want to have in mind when the cup is being presented.

Yeah that was rather cringy. |

I get it. But except for Debrincat, not many other players drafted after him stand out very much that other teams also didn't pass over many times.
Im more disappointed in the Rubstov pick with hindsight.
Overall that was a VERY top heavy draft and pretty weak taken as a whole. - MBFlyerfan
Definitley. Which is why its strange they passed on a kid who just had consecutive 100+ point seasons and isnt too bad defensivley. In that draft, I would have just picked the shiniest object out of the dump, washed my hands and move on to the next draft. |

Unless Hart falters in the upcoming season, the Flyers will likely lock him up long term with an 8 year deal. - MJL
Thanks. I believe he's the real deal, so assuming that he has another strong season I wouldn't mind the Flyers pursuing a long term deal after this coming season. Just curious to see what the AAV would look like on that.
Also gotta wonder if Hart's camp would prefer a bridge. Essentially betting on himself for say the next 2 years, then really cashing in on a long term deal if he stays healthy & continues to play well. The deal Hellebuyck recently signed will pay him $6.2 for the next four seasons. Having that type of financial security for next few years would definitely be enticing, but it appears that he will have left money on the table when you see what guys like Price ($10.5), Bob ($10), & Vas ($9.5) are making.
I understand that each player's situation/timing is unique. And I know Hart's deal is still a year away. But I would think that a potential long term deal is something that would have to be planned for well in advance, and could therefore impact current roster decisions. Especially considering they're already capped out. Will be interesting for sure |

All this talk is speculation and exaggeration. Unless you know Nolan Patrick personally and ask him how he feels, this is a wasted topic. |

They didn't have the opportunity to draft him, last time I checked. Just like Kane and JVR. Not super impressed with Hischier from what I've seen at this point. - aantny88
it's ok they have hughes to back him up |

That was just so... unnecessary and random.
In game 5, (for those who missed this part), they showed a video of Perry's son dancing, which they played after he had scored. Then they showed the family bulldog, who was unimpressed in a way that only bulldogs are unimpressed.
Ok mildly funny Doc, but there is no need to screech and howl right into the microphone. I have not heard a scream like that since Howard Dean. |
