This board is one of the most diverse imo. And most of the abrasiveness is just bs with the boys at the bar talk.

Capfriendly is far more abrasive. People on there go for the throat out of the gate.

Yeah I only go over there when I’m really bored. All the red wings people there shoot everything down. Like nobody is willing to move a 3rd rounder for a middle 6 forward. There’s no conversation really. There’s a lot of cool ideas over there but it’s all about bashing them instead of tweaking them.

100% It's one thing toss ideas around, but people think they truly speak on behalf of the team. All they like to say is, "Team A Says No," and walk away.

Yeah which is fine if it’s a stupid trade like I saw a nj fan trading 18 and 20 to Detroit for the 4th pick lol. But otherwise it’s just pointless. There’s a Detroit fan that thinks it would be a waste to give up a 3rd for Tyler Johnson and a 4th under an agreement where Detroit exposes him so he can go home to Washington in a year.

I find NJ and Ottawa fans to be most moronic on there. NJD fans there think every prospect in their system is liquid gold.

Anyone would do Murray Johnson and a 3rd for Sam Bennet and 5th?

Thoughts?

PIT should do that.

As you can see by Grinders comment, you dont have to know or care about the graphs or charts to comment or hang around.

After the pens are out I pretty much root for guys I think would be cool to hangout with. I was invested in the Islanders though. That team clicked. Barzal is way more fun to watch than point or Kucherov also.

Would Calgary? That looks super good to me so I’m assuming it’s awful for Calgary.

I can't see CGY pulling the trigger on a deal like that.

So many Penguins fans around HB that very rarely or never post in here. I think some of the regulars here scare other people away hahaha

EDIT: you gotta have thick skin to hang around these parts...

Wow I feel attacked by this comment! Ok that's a lie, but like Max, I too enjoy reading the content from the posters that are regularly on here, and just seeing what they have to say whether I agree with them or not. Plus I too am not that knowledgeable with player stats, cap salaries, charts, graphs, etc. as I tend to stay away from that.

Hey! I normally come to the comments section because I enjoy the hockey talk. I’m not the most knowledgeable fan when it comes to charts and graphs but tend to watch a good amount of hockey and keep up with teams via hockey sites like this one.

I know half as much as a lot of these dudes, I still like to ask questions (thst are probably stupid) to most but I like to be informed even if that opens me to criticism. Don't be afraid to post. I love reading it too. Plus, you can learn a lot about cooking (which I love).

I’d rather watch the Islanders squeeze every ounce of compete out if their team anyday than watch someone who is just physically gifted either score, or not score and wack and hack and crosscheck every player in sight on his way back to the bench. But the stats community finally got their champ, only took 15 years. Besides Kucherov Tampa’s a pretty likable team anyway.

I don't get too excited about Bennett but he is still just 24 with team control, cheap, fills a need, and is a playoff performer. I would send them a 2nd along with Murray and JJ and not worry about getting a 5th back. That would probably be more enticing to them.

Murray + JJ is still negative value IMO so we would have to add something decent like a 2nd.

But.. does a line of McCann-Bennett-Tanev have enough scoring punch?

I absolutely would. Calgary might if that is a Pittsburgh 2nd rounder. For them I think it depends on if they can get a big fish like Pietrangelo in FA.

Good point - probably not. But I don't think we'll do much better dealing Murray and JJ. Centers are hard to come by. The alternative would be to deal Murray for a pick, buyout JJ, put McCann at center and then target a good LW. But the FA LWs are Hall and a bunch of scrubs. There are probably some FA RWs who can play both wings effectively but I don't know who they are. Or move Tanev to LW and look for a RW. Then there's the issue of salary and cap space.

I’d even change our pick to a 2nd and Calgary’s to a 7th. Bennett has 1 year left at a reasonable cap hit.

Bennett screams change of scenery type of player that JR would target. I do have a feeling he is going to Buffalo though d/t his history with Mike Bales.

How does a player who was never really that good need a change of scenery?

Bennet has been often rumoured and treviling apparently is shopping him.
They are interested in Murray, and a 2nd or 3rd to take jj would be ideal. Maybe they would put Rittich in play.
If JR pushes enough there is a trade here that would benefit the pens greatly.
The only thing this would be an admission of a mistake signing jj, and he might be reluctant .
