Yeah but Tampa is the climax of the stats circle jerk. Small, boring, vanilla. Speedy crybaby’s getting their way. Would of loved to see the 12 Kings vs this Tampa team. - Grinder47
Curious what makes Tampa boring and vanilla? |

The thing that worries me the most is JR saying he's going to wait out the first few days of FA. That's got bargain bin shopping and overpaying for a player no one else wants written all over it. - Hockey66
I dont think so. His bad signings have been when he jumps out of the gate and gives a guy that didn't have a ton of interest a big contract because he is negotiating against himself. Think JJ and Tanev. I dont think he will overpay on a guy he is waiting for. |

Unless there are trades, Pens really can't go after many contracts with term. Next season Marino gets a raise and in two years, Malkin, Rust, Kapanen, McCann, and Letang all need new contracts. That would be a hell of a rough offseason to manage.
Initially I wasn't excited about him but im kind of hoping for a 1 year deal with Koivu. Ryan might be ok too on a cheap one. If the Pens make some cash saving moves I really do like the possible upside on Huala. Obviously a lot of risk with him but he might be inclined to try a one or two year deal to re-establish value. |

I'd like to see the Pens think a little more outside the box. Something along these lines could bring a little more speed/skill and cut some of the longer term contracts.
To VGK: McCann/JJ
To Pens: AMart/Stastny
-$3.3M
VGK clears out salary for APiet. both players to pens on 1 year contracts. JJ clear out
To Edm: MM/Riikola
To Pens: AA
+1M from last years salary
To Ott: Pett/ZAR
To Pens: Duclair
~+$2M
Sprinkle in a few picks and prospects from all sides to make it even.
new 3rd line of Duclair/Stastny/AA. 3 LDs: Dum/AMart/Math with POJ coming next year.
Can look at a 3rd RD of DeMelo for cheap
Still gives the team some speed along with a competent 3C without killing the team for many years.
Lots of moving parts. Not sure if JR could process all of that. What do you guys think? (I'm bored today. My mind is mush from the debate. Just looking for something to push me through. LOL) |

I'm not sure who's the Rangers goalie after Lundquist, but I see theyre buying him out. Any chance the Rangers and Pens could make a trade (not for Lundquist) for Murray? |

Because they don't have Lucic and Perry.

Lol he was one of the best. I think he's cooked now, otherwise I'd like him to backup Jarry. |

I don't hate him. He was one hell of a goalie. Just think he doesnt have much left to offer. |

I read Rossi's article today and he doesn't really seem to have a feel for how the Johnson situation will play out. He went over all the possible scenarios we already knew, but didn't mention buyout or retention. He touched on a lot issues for the Pens cap this year and moving forward, but this is how he ended the article:
There will be more moves this offseason. It’s the next one that figures to be The Big One. |

I dont think hes cooked. Clear sight analytics says he was one of the better goalies this year until they went to the 3 goalie rotation.
If I was a team in desperate need for a goalie, I'd try to sign him to a cheap deal, (Edmonton, Calgary, buffalo) and have him be one of my goalies |

Well I think he's definitely dropped off, and I wouldn't want to deal with it unless Desmith is traded. Just too many moving parts for not a huge need at the moment. |

I don’t know those teams exact needs but a creative gm could def shake things up. I’d vote for you if the gm job was won by democratic standards.
Edit* the other thing I think to do too is see what you can get in fa then trade away extras. I’d love to sign brendon Dillon as a 2ld. With the cap not going up and he resigns for a similar 4 mil-ish cap hit that makes petts available for prospects/picks. Just as 1 example, so not everything has to be done full trade route. |

Not just 2 young goalies as other have mentioned but 2 that both look really good. |
