The lockout had a part in that, but remember how quickly their last cup team disintegrated? I wonder if this is a repeat in history. I guess it doesn't really matter, they have the cup to show for it.

oh yeah definitely
I was just staring at their page on capfriendly though and I dont know how they are gonna do it
I mean, you could make the argument that Sergachev is more important to that team moving forward than McDonagh
do you try and talk McDonagh into waiving his NTC?

It's going to be someone. They have a bunch of guys in the minors that they could move up and fill some depth positions, but that's the only way I can see them fitting under the cap with a good roster. If they can't do that they really only have two options, trading Point that doesn't have one or buyout someone like Johnson.

Do the Rangers consider taking McDonagh back to bolster the left side?
Is Stamkos even a remote possibility? They have a younger legit #1 now, maybe time to cash out on Stamkos. |

They are screwed with Stamkos, his contract is pretty buyout proof. Honestly, what it would take for us to get him, I'd be worried about if he ever declined. If he gets bought out, his cap hit only goes down by 1 million for the duration of the contract.

That's not good at all.
Granted, he's what 34 at the end of the contract? I think I take that chance. |

I'm guessing you want to move him back to center? I know your reasoning is the contract is a bit shorter and it might cost slightly less assets to acquire him, but at that point just try to get Eichel.

He's locked in at a reasonable rate even with a flat cap. I would expect him to come in as a Center, yes.
I want no part of Eichel. |

With all the beatings he has taken over the years and miles he has, you know he is breaking down in a couple of years. The last 3/4 years of that deal are going to be awful IMO |

Pitch for Stamkos.
Kravtsov, Chytil, and 2 firsts.
Too much/not enough? |

In a vacuum, probably about right. In terms of we have them over our knee and they have to do something to get under the cap? I'd twist the knife at them a bit more and offer less.
