Carol Schram: The challenges of the uncertain offseason could help Canucks keep Markstrom Now that the Tampa Bay Lightning have claimed the Stanley Cup and taken it out of the bubble and back to Florida, the offseason *really* begins. With lots of question marks about when the 2020-21 campaign will begin and how the revenue streams will work, teams may be reluctant to spend big when free agency opens next week.

A buyout is very possible in the buyout window soon. I'm told the player has been made aware of a potential buyout as well.

Great coverage of the year Carol . Mother Nature tried to throw you a curve ball by extending the time period but you kicked her ass.

I wonder how hard it will be for TB to move another vet .

As long as they're willing to accept first round draft picks they should be ok.

They might get one for Palat, i would love to have that guy, but johnson and Killorn don’t have as high of value as Miller. Cirelli would be a great offer sheet, he’s a bit redundant with Bo in the lineup but man would we be tough up the middle and on the pk. I’d rather see them offer sheet one of the D. Seems like offer sheets are pretty rare though. If you’re any of those kids, do you want to leave?

Great stuff Carol! Some good points about salary/signings during covid. So much uncertainty! I still think a lot of these players are going to go for big contracts, but it will be interesting!

I hear about teams like Vegas and Toronto wanting to get in on Pietrangelo and I ask How ? Then I ask why?

How is much more relevant than why. He played 26 minutes a night and captained his team to a cup. Guy is a complete stud. I honestly think the leafs should trade nylander or marner. I guess you could trade a center but then you have a huge hole. I truly love how much they’ve (frank)ed themselves with 30 mil to three guys brings me great joy

At the end of the contract it is going to hurt them.

You wonder how Miller feels about TB winning the cup this year without him. Is he questioning why he got moved instead of Palat or one of the other guys who are older and didn't put up the same numbers he did this past season?

Never thought of that, probably stings a bit to know he could have been on a Cup team. Though, he's a leader on this team, so I think *if* he wins it here it'll be more impactful for him.

I think it was more about Benning wanting to acquire Miller than TB picking to keep Palat over him.

It’s often how it works. Look at Toews. You hope they win in the window you make, but it seems like few guys are worth the length of their deal.

Must kinda suck, but I don’t think he’s unhappy here. He also has given a huge role. Bitter sweet i guess.

He is one of the 10 fastest skaters in the show, McDavid said they are the only guys he’s ever trained with to be able to catch up with him from behind.

Anybody like a big mobile RSD that could be available for the 82nd pick in the draft?

Or is getting a center better like this one:

"One staffer the Lightning could lose: assistant director of amateur scouting Darryl Plandowski. Arizona is hot for him to run its department with Ryan Jankowski."

Surprised no one brought up the Canucks as needing to grab him.
